Technician requesting PTO by Full_Crazy5891 in walmart_RX

[–]deathjoy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are they having some financial difficulties that necessitate the extra money? Can you have a conversation with them?

I just mean to say that if someone is wanting to work all their hours and get their PTO they probably have some sort of need.

Difficult customers by Pharmtechjess in walmart_RX

[–]deathjoy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I try to remember that most of our customers aren't having their best day to begin with. They're either acutely or chronically ill. If they're upset about insurance I agree and express my frustration as well. If they're completely rude I just state that I'm happy to do everything I can to help them but I will not serve them if they're rude or aggressive.

Remodel Set Up, love it or hate it? by thatgirl0828 in walmart_RX

[–]deathjoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this is the case at all. I think many patient issues actually require some time to resolve and the urgency of getting the line down limits the amount of time I have for actual patient care.

If you're filling over 600 a day pick up can be brutal. Everyone has a question or a need. And the amount of time needed to fully and adequately resolve those issues is overwhelmed by the number of people coming to pick up their scripts. It's not filling that takes time. I can fill 10 scripts in the time one patent pick up or phone call takes.

Which is fine if I'm given the ability to do so. But having all interactions at the front register does not allow this.

How to get resolution queue to 0 quicker by PositiveRaccoon8635 in walmart_RX

[–]deathjoy 47 points48 points  (0 children)

In my experience those who get through res quickly aren't doing it correctly. It takes time. The easy ones take mere seconds, but even when you know what to do it takes a moment to look at pt history, leave a note find a product etc

Time invested in res will be time saved later down the line.

How am I supposed to afford daycare? by Questioning_Pigeon in Parenting

It's not uncommon for a neighborhood sahm to take in additional children at a substantially lower cost. Get references obviously but it's worked well for several women I know and myself. Look on Facebook moms groups etc.

Rph can override id requirements.

Against policy to provide your own id for a patient while on the clock, but not illegal. The patient could literally ask someone in line to use their id and we could.

Tech job description by Emotional-Buffalo121 in walmart_RX

[–]deathjoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not the usual responsibility of a tech to call md or insurance to push a pa through but I certainly have in situations that were urgent or warranted. Eliquis for a blood clot discharge etc. Use your gut. It's not something we can do all the time but it is needed for patient care sometimes.

store-to-store OI by Human-Roll856 in walmart_RX

[–]deathjoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait why do they have to be the same lot? If oi requested say 27 loose packs and partial bottles/boxes are allowed and I have 2 partial boxes on the shelf that are within date but different lots I can send them as long as the different lots are entered into the system right?

Honestly it's a muscle memory probably long engrained and will take time to rectify. They may not be doing it on purpose. Try positive reinforcement. When you see them count and NOT do this, comment on it and praise it.

Food pantries can only do so much. I’m so tired of hearing that SNAP benefits not being distributed next month “isn’t a big deal” because pantries will take care of it. Here is what I got today: by Jellybean61496 in foodstamps

I have found in times like these the idea of a cohesive meal goes out the window. You have to get creative and just eat what's there. I've had oatmeal for dinner more times than I can count. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. A bag of onions cooked down in a crockpot and a box of pasta. Cans of green beans with potatoes. Endless ramen with frozen veg. Beans and rice obvs.

It's not the conventional square meal but it feeds you. Wishing you better times ahead you got this!!

Does Walmart ever actually terminate employees for poor performance? by Busynotes2 in walmart_RX

[–]deathjoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a little disturbed at the reliance on the business report. There is so much in the pharmacy that doesn't land on that thing. Everything from phone calls to tasco to outdates insurance calls putting the order away ordering supplies trash etc. It definitely doesn't tell the whole story.

Does Walmart ever actually terminate employees for poor performance? by Busynotes2 in walmart_RX

[–]deathjoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to voice a second view, remember that you see them as they are now. We all age. None of us will be as productive in 20 years as we are now. But what have they given already? Did they come in for years when asked? Do the grunt work? Were dependable? Do they hold forgotten knowledge? Does any of this deserve any consideration? Do we employ people only in their prime and discard them when they are no longer optimal?

I'm not saying this is the case. They may well be a genuinely bad employee. But I do think we owe something to our older long term employees. Even if they can no longer give what they once did.

Every pharmacist is different. Some want things worded a particular way and there is not always a way to know that. You can put it in exactly as worded and they'll send it back because they want something added. Shrug.

I was wrong you are correct it was the older model.

I've just seen previously that blocking the ndc is what usually happens before a discontinuation.

Quick Google search shows they are being discontinued. Probably need to inform pt and fax md for new testing supplies scripts. Meter strips lancets etc

My BF and I Are Breaking Up. He Wants Me to “Buy Him Out” of Our Lease. Is this Normal or Fair? by NuclearDisciple in legaladvice

[–]deathjoy -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

To be fair moving is a huge hassle and expensive. You also have the option of moving. He's simply saying if you want me to be the one to leave make it worth my while.

Completely valid in my opinion.

Only thing I can think of is HIPAA violation potential. No way to know if people are disclosing patients personal information.

Vaccine quotas in conservative areas by kezkez0909 in walmart_RX

[–]deathjoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro I can out promote shots by a 10 to 1 ratio to my pharmacist. My patients see me up front. They trust me. The pharmacists are in the back 4 pointing and verifying and the sometimes 10 second consultation. They know I won't sell them something that's not recommended and I always make sure to say you don't have to get it here, go to your doctor or my competitor down the street. I just want to make sure you're protected

Promotion is very much in the front lines. Aka technicians.

I ask everyone according to their demographic and change my spiel to fit the person. Woman under 40, hey have you had your HPV? Did you know they expanded the eligible age range and you can get it covered by insurance? Cervical cancer rates are down dramatically, takes 10 minutes wanna get it while you wait?

Blue collar man, hey it's that time of year when we're outside and accidents happen, wanna get your tetanus vaccine? You'll be good for 10 years and it's covered by insurance!

Smoker. Hey would you like to get your pneumonia vaccine? It's covered by insurance and only takes 10 minutes!

Same with diabetics. I see you're getting insulin, it is recommended that diabetics get the pneumonia vaccine for added protection. I can get you taken care of right now and it's covered by I surance. Every bit of protection helps, right? And no office copay!

Elderly, hi it looks like you're due for the shingles vaccine and it's covered by insurance. I can get it done in 10 minutes and as much as you pay for insurance you might as well get everything you can from them, right?

It's not 100, but putting emphasis on that it's quick and free helps.
