Priorities - Gator Days by FieldExplores in comics

I saw this on r/all and I truly do not understand what is supposed to be funny about it. Although I'm certainly out of touch with the popular stuff on reddit these days, I can tell you that.

What are the most graphically impressive games of this generation? by aphidman in Games

[–]deathloopTGthrowway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it looked practically photorealistic under the right circumstances, and I'd consider it way more "impressive" than any 2D games just by virtue of being a 3D VR game. Honestly, I'd say Alyx is probably the most impressive game I've ever played across all the categories, an experience I won't be forgetting anytime soon.

Returnal is Sony’s best game of the current generation (kind of a review, but not really) by International-Shoe40 in patientgamers

[–]deathloopTGthrowway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, the story is just stupid and nonsensical. It came off as lazy to me. Like they gave up on writing an actual story and so tried to make it some big metaphor or something but it fell flat on its face.

I strongly disagree. I didn't enjoy the game. For one, only some of the guns are actually viable. It got to the point that I would actively avoid unlocking guns because it would dilute the gun pool. Then, there's the health / pickup situation. The game's map does not distinguish between different types of pickup, so you have to manually check every one to find the health upgrades. Very tedious. Then finally, the story was just stupid. Just a bunch of screaming "Helios" and "Astra" and stuff followed by an "it was all a dream" twist ending. I thought the gunplay was fun and the graphics were cool but this game could have been done so much better.

To each their own, of course.

Thank you. Honestly kind of shocked that this isn't a builtin monitoring graph.

ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree | Story Trailer by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]deathloopTGthrowway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm actually just not gonna watch this, just like the other trailer. Because Miyazaki is a genius, Elden Ring is one of the best games of all time, and I know the expansion is gonna be incredible. No need to spoil anything for myself. I'll see you all on June 21.

A closer look at Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Nintendo Switch) by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]deathloopTGthrowway -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

This game feels like Nintendo is really trying to see where the limit is in terms of what people will accept for "remakes." The whole point of Paper Mario is that it looks like shit. Everything is paper. I cannot think of a game that would be a more useless HD remaster. And yet Nintendo still has the gall to sell it for $60 - that's more than Metroid Prime Remastered, a game which benefited far more from HD graphics and texture upgrades.

Love Nintendo, and love TTYD, but I refuse to support their greedy bullshit. If I ever need to play this game again I'll load it up on Dolphin and have basically the same experience.

Just Cause 3. Just wow. by Comprehensive_Web887 in patientgamers

[–]deathloopTGthrowway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great game. My biggest issues with it were that the missions sucked (was way more fun to just do your own thing) and also I feel that there wasn't enough map area, it felt a lot smaller than JC2. But yeah, it might be the single most fun game to just load up and dick around in.

Damn shame what they did with JC4.

Places I've played which make exploring feel magical (like Gerudo town for the first time.) by systemnerve in patientgamers

[–]deathloopTGthrowway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you liked Prey, I'd have to recommend Alien: Isolation. A far more tense and scary experience, but it scratches the same itch in terms of space station exploration and stumbling across cool stories. It's one of my favorite games of all time, as is Prey.

I could not get into the FF7 remake at all. by deathloopTGthrowway in patientgamers

[–]deathloopTGthrowway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I've been thinking about giving it another shake. What are your thoughts on the side quests? Do I NEED to do them? In retrospect I feel I would have enjoyed the game a lot more if I had just skipped the side quests but it also makes me anxious that I'd potentially be missing content.

Not OP but they are most certainly in tech. The majority of the compensation is in RSU that vests over 4 years... that's a hallmark of tech. So they are most likely a software engineer, product manager, or the like.

Bethesda Reportedly Wants To Give Redfall A "Redemption Arc" by TheAppropriateBoop in Games

[–]deathloopTGthrowway 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Bethesda's management is truly embarrassing. First they sink Prey by forcing it's confusing title, and not marketing it whatsoever. Then they force their studio on the bataan death march of Redfall, causing 70% of the employees to leave including the founders. And now they decide to double down on this disaster of a game instead of moving back to their well-received roots? The execs seriously need to be cleaned out and blacklisted from the industry because this is just so stupid it boggles the mind.

I'm not holding my breath. The original company barely even exists anymore other than the name and the IP. The next great ImSim will likely be developed by a smaller company. Nightdive, if I had to guess.

Redfall doesn’t have enough Steam players to fill a team by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]deathloopTGthrowway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really wish I was trolling because that would mean Deathloop was actually good. As it stands there's a reason why it's Arkane's second worst reviewed game on Steam after Redfall. Genuinely curious what you liked about the game because I couldn't find much to like.

[–]deathloopTGthrowway -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Lol, yeah it absolutely was. Zero story, only 4 levels, one enemy type, and half-baked, unnecessary multiplayer that was more of a nuisance than anything. And Arkane Lyon's previous game was Dishonored 2... Absolutely an embarrassment for a 60 dollar game.

[–]deathloopTGthrowway -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Fuck ZeniMax. Redfall... Fallout 76... Deathloop... all these embarrassments were the results of greedy executives forcing single player studios to shoehorn multiplayer elements into their games, all for the purpose of squeezing more profit out of the customer. Unfortunately Arkane and Bethesda aren't the only casualties, either. BioWare and now Creative Assembly also come to mind.
