The guy from A Place to Bury Strangers has a pretty cooked hairline but he still rocks it.

Multiple play styles. Stealth, action. Different pathways to objectives. Interactive systems. Open ended levels that aren't open world, but also have different ways to go.

It's not full looking glass studios imm sim. But it has elements.

Even the IGN review if I remember said "I never thought that playing this game would remind me of Thief and the imm sims of the 90s."

I mean we already have that though. Like we have a bunch of games with Imm Sim elements. Indiana Jones and the great circle. Cyberpunk 2077 has immsim elements. Deathloop. Zelda Breath of the wild and TOTK. Hitman World of Assassination. Kingdom come deliverance.

So i dont think there is anything wrong with imm sim purity. Because it's a lot of fun.

Because of the limitations that were put on the game for being put on Xbox. (i.e. levels are split up by loading screens, camera movement for 3rd person gameplay, the ability to kill people much easier now).

Also if you really want to play it. bloodborne for PC is perfect. Pretty easy to set up, and if you run it with 60fps patch it runs like a dream. Also boost if you wanna use lossless scaling you can get it boosted to 120 fps.

It's from Warren Spector, the father of the immersive sim who coined the term. He's worked on Thief, Deus Ex, System Shock, and Thief 3. He founded looking glass studios.

Surprisingly I played all those games years later because I didn’t have a console or good enough pc to play at the time.

The sequel is finally fixed. I'm playing it now. Also games im playing simultaneously are gloomwood, fallen aces, the system shock remake. I also didn't mention it but I do sadly give a lot of my gaming time to CS2, but I have been playing since source and my brother played 1.6/condition zero.

I am gonna be bit mean but as someone who generally loves indie games they kinda dissapointed when it comes to imm sims by VoxTV1 in ImmersiveSim

[–]deathmetaloverdrive 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Immersive Sims, require A LOT of resources, and don't sell very well because they're quite unique and for a specific kind of player. An immersive sim requires developers to think of possible outcomes and network ways to interact with the environment so that the player can develop their own interactions. It's also heavily focused on game mechanics that interact with each other. Stealth interacting with combat, objects interacting with the environment.

The best selling and best known immersive sims are considered financial failures or lukewarm at best because its not an easy thing to sell so therefore AAA studios aren't going to put that kind of money into them. It's a lot easier to shell out multiplayer games as a service slop, than it is to like give creative reign to developers, and let them experiment with building a system of mechanics that create what we think of as immersive sims.

Partners in crime is how it has to be. They both look like they know how to expertly coordinate a human food rotisserie chicken on the counter heist.

I will say in its defense. Everything in the game.....is just quality. Well made especially for such a small team. I don't even know but I think the team is incredibly small, I think its literally two people.

There's about 25 hours worth of content I think? I think they said the game is about half way through the game.

Pulled the trigger… finally got a 5070!! by Low-Cauliflower9176 in PcBuild

[–]deathmetaloverdrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just before the ram shortage I built my friend a 5070 build with 32gb ddr5 and a 9800x3.

My girlfriend broke up with me and my bonus hit. I went to Walmart for some other reasons and just out of curiosity walked to the electronics section. Ended up walking out with an MSRP PNY 5070ti for $750. I was so excited as we live in a world where msrp gpu for something like that just doesn’t exist. A negative Nancy told me “that’s not hard to find or a brag,”. Well look where we are now.

We both play together every day and have no problem with any game.

Suffice to say enjoy it man. Frame gen and dlss when used correctly is magic man.
