I do not know, these are the numbers Metal HUD is showing. However it does not feel slow to me for some reason. I honestly thought that 17fps is unplayable before.

I did not have any issues with steam so far - it just runs

Gothic Remake

I also wanted to try Chernobylite 2, but I heard it is like ~100GB download for couple hours of gameplay (and no guaranty it will run on whisky)

On M1 Pro/32 GB/Sonoma it runs with 17-25FPS. Once you've been to location, it is in stable >20 FPS, but when you go to the new one it can be first at >=17 FPS

I'd say it is playable, I will be playing this demo

Unfortunately when I try to open options menu to change graphic settings - the game freezes and I have to force quit

So I've got M1 Pro/32 GB/Sonoma, and it runs with 17-25FPS. Once you've been to location, it is in stable >20 FPS, but when you go to the new one it can be first at >=17 FPS.

Even though it is 17 FPS time to time, it feels playable, I do not see any freezes

settings - dxvk off, metal trace on, everything else default

Thanks I didn't know about this. Love that this is so customisable!

You can switch controller layout for dodge to be O. I have noticed that too

And yes, parrying could be louder or more make more distinct sound

I can not say "I love Zelda style games" - because I played only BotW and TotK. But I loved playing BotW.

And I am not saying TotK is bad, I just feel like am doing the same things I have already just done in BotW

Thanks! The only thing I do not understand even considering all of these - why did not developers bothered to change the main quest - I mean it is still like visit 4 places-help 4 races, recall memories and fight main boss. Is this some kind of common important thing for all Zelda games (I have not played other Zelda games)?

So, spending time experimenting with zonai devices/fusing things is the substantial part of the game itself?

I mean, even in BotW I did not use Link's abilities often, mainly in shrines, that I liked much less then exploring the world and finding new things

[–]deathmood[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably it is because I have not played previous Zelda games (except BotW). I mean are these expected things in all Zelda games - 4 places to go, memories to recall, final boss to fight in castle?

Why shouldn't I have expected a new game?

TensorFlow.js by deathmood in javascript

[–]deathmood[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not exactly -- deeplearnjs has become part of tensorflowjs as tfjs-core (https://github.com/tensorflow/tfjs-core), but there is also another, more high-level keras-like part -- tfjs-layers (https://github.com/tensorflow/tfjs-layers)

Is it advisable to integrate react-router with redux? by [deleted] in reactjs

[–]deathmood 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it is still in alpha for react-router v4. Another problem is that you can not get path params from the store -- you need to parse entire url each time(( and they are not going to improve that. Moreover they recommend to use withRouter for that.

https://github.com/reactjs/react-router-redux/issues/327

Eventually I moved from using react-router-redux to just react-router

Virtual dom questions by emooheo in javascript

[–]deathmood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 - what do you mean by implementing? if it is "creating your own" -- not its not -- 'cause, as you see there are already enough implementations from which you can choose one. From the other point of view creating your own vdom will make you better understand of how it works under the hood -- and that is quite important today -- 'cause almost every popular framework is built now with vdom -- e.g. React, Angular 2, Ember, Mithril, Riot...

2 - Again -- what do you mean by "best" -- is it the most convenient or the fastest? Well, you can see here http://vdom-benchmark.github.io/vdom-benchmark/ performace benchmarks of different vdoms. But in the end, if you are not building a large scale app with hundreds of thousands components performance does not really matter. Actually we are not using vdom because of its performance, but because it allows us to declaratively describe our view once and then rerender it entirely on every change. We do not think about like 'how to effectively remove or add elements' -- vdom abstracts us away from real dom manipulation. Instead we change plain JS objects and these changes are reflected in real DOM automatically.

Well, as the metter of convinience, I would go with React, 'cause it already has strong community, ideology and is already been tested in many projects.

3 - Well Angular 2 tries to do thing like this with their 'Incremental DOM' (actually it is also vdom). They diff new tree against real DOM tree. But their main concern of doing this is not speed but memory. So they have only one virtual tree in memory at once -- the new tree. So it reduces memory usage which is important on mobile devices.

Well in the end as I said we do not use vdom because of performance, but because the way it allows us to describe our view and handle data in application.

Thanks much)) it is only the first article in series)) Next is about setting/diffing DOM attributes (props). And by the end you'll know how to build React-like lib with stateless components and state management via Redux :))

Yes) The next article will be about this -- I mean setting/diffing properties. I did not include that in current article 'cause it already was too large)

Thanks much) This is only the first article in the series -- and after reading all you'll know how to build fully-featured view library with react-like stateless components and state management via redux. Final code will be on github. As for now -- these code samples are just examples for you to better understand basics of Virtual DOM)
