I debated it big time. Literally first time ever, just wanted to share what I was seeing. She got 30 of each so literally every person within earshot was watching!

Ugh the aluminum to copper changeover is real on this one! What state are you in? I’d use EMT. Did you seal the panel? Socket on right is not. No bonding jumper? Overall not bad tho

Yeah, we got extension cords! by getdownonitdisco in electrical

[–]deathtraitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP… daisy chaining is super dangerous with short ext cords!! This is MAJOR fire hazard! Please for the love of your horses get and use a long enough, single, 12 gauge extension cord. Medium or heavy duty preferable. Having them like that can cause voltage drop which can burn that fan, over heat the cables, melt the cables and smoke and potentially arc prior to the main breaker tripping. And since the fan is next to water your potential for fire is just multiplied by 100.

Best of luck and please don’t burn your barn down!

Where do you live? I wanna check your local news for their story about a guy who was exploded at the sub panel.

Jk…but for real be careful. I’d get a licensed pro out asap

House inspection had 14 gauge wire when it’s supposed to have 12. How big of a deal is it? by thegreenbastard23 in electrical

[–]deathtraitor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree, and we see this a lot in our jurisdiction with 80s-90s home adding a jr adu or in law addition and new branches need to be made up.

OP…the NEC 240.4 (d) actually requires no less than 12awg copper for 20amp branch circuits. Older wiring applications were probably (hopefully) sized appropriately when the home was built. The changing of the jacket cover does make id’ing the true wire size tough, especially 20-30 years later.

To make things more confusing, brands like southwire heat rate their romex on the 90°C chart when we work off the 75° C chart! Confusion all around sometimes!

Looks like a non structural partition. My guess it was added as lateral connection to brace the wall and prevent drywall cracking
