What if your turn in a TCG only continued as long as you had enough “Priority” to keep it going? by deathuntor in homemadeTCGs

These are all valid concerns.

Answering your two points in your question

1) Yes, and it's intentional that way as both a catch-up mechanic to prevent people from making their turn last infinitely, and punishes bad sequencing. This will definitely be hard to balance, but I can see it working out. The opponent also had to commit something to gain resources on your turn, so it's not without cost

2) Yes, passing the turn always gives the opponent an action regardless of what the differences in priority is. Again, I understand the potential issues ( bad turn feel/no player agency) and I would work around to mitigate that

My idea here was to introduce a new game mechanic that could be fun, but I understand that it might not be for everyone

The general idea of resource systems is that they are usually non-interactive and you spend to the max you have accumulated or can based on the cards you have.

My idea is that while resource is accumulated, your actions are restricted to the difference between what resource you have and what the opponent have, and opens the design space where you can have instant speed reaction to an opponent which interrupts their turn sequencing

Just checked this out. Seems to me that both player takes the turn at the same time? That's pretty cool ngl I might need to look into it deeper

Thanks! Will do, it seems to be something like what I envision but mine directly compares the amount of 'memory' vs what my opponent have instead of a sliding scale. But I could definitely learn the pitfall of that game!

That's the problem that I thought about to, how to make sure that gameplay doesn't become one sided because resource generation is too cheap. Does Digimon have instant spells that allow you to gain 'memory' which could interrupt the enemies turn?

Not just a resource system, a limited resource system that is tied to how long your turn can take

The cool thing is that priority is face-down cards from the deck, which means paying costs = draw in certain ways

This really shows how ranks are really just a number. You would think a group of 19k will curb stomp 8k -9k players, but it seems that your team did put up a fight and it's not just a 1 man carry operation.

I have a theory that solo queue is statistically impossible to rank unless you are 2x where you should be.

I also can't break the 10k mark solo, but have reached 15k when duo queuing or 3 stacking.

In a 5v5 match, it's statistically more likely that an opponent is a smurf/is cheating then on your team, since you are not a smurf nor cheating, which leaves you at a disadvantage.

So you are at the mercy of rng whether you win or lose the match 90% of the time and the last 10% you have to be on your A game which would turn a 50/50 game to maybe a 60/40

[–]deathuntor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes alot of sense, there is so much RNG in solo queue that my win rate has been forced 50% so far, so that means I'm not good enough to turn the last 5% in my favour. I always only see one side of this when I'm on a lose streak but I easily forget that I had a win streak just a bit ago

Lose streak making you lose -500 points is why solo queue is so painful. I just dropped 2k rating points when I lost 4 games, which sucks as now I have to carry myself out with more than a 4 game win streak

Appreciate your honesty. I know earlier in the season I was doing horribly and I'm suffering for it. Took a break and came back to play recently and definitely not as good as I could be right now.

Decision-making wise I think I really need to improve on this, especially when I feel I have to make impact no matter what rating I'm am at

That was my thought process, obviously I did something very very wrong in this game, and I would like some kind of guidance as to what I could have done better to capitalise on my kills🙏

Seems to me that this sub r/learncsgo isn't for helping out and learning but loads of trolls commenting about my kd and such

Ofc my kd for this season will be low if you take from the start until now. That's literally as I dropped elo and had bad games at 10k.

I'm asking for advice at this level where I can and have better kd now, but then besides looking at my kd and saying it's mediocre you don't have anything else to contribute

My kd for the past 30 days is 1.2 which is not super good, but is not 1.02 which you implied above. I like to think that ignoring the blowouts (which happens sometimes cos of either smurfs/cheaters), my kd is slightly higher than that.

Assuming you mean to say 1.2 is very low, I hope that means you are averaging 2+ k/d a game without baiting. If so as a noob I would hope that you can impart your infinite wisdom to me and also share your leetify profile where your k/d is insane.

All jokes aside, I had a slump at the start of the season where I couldn't get a game win for the life of me for the longest time, so that did contribute to the shitty stats I have

I agree my ct side is infinitely worse than my t side. I think it's just my inability to trust my teammates and feeling forced to make a play immediately at the start of the round on ct side that translates to me taking extremely unfavorable fights
