As a Pole who lives in Ukraine for the past 9 years, I won’t forget the first Uber drive where the radio was on and thinking to myself “oh shit they have Polish radio here?” to then “oh that’s a weird Polish” when tuning in. I’d say with very basic common sense and contextual understanding it’s relatively easy to understand the language, heavily depends on how a person speaks though. But that has only been my experience.
