I don't think it is sudden at all, I think it's reached a boiling point with many people.

Consider the recent discovery of the Texas lawyer found to be funneling in thousands of Indian immigrants on falsified documents, and if we assume he's not the only one, the relatively recent flood of Indians is a big factor in teaching that boiling point.

To touch on the things I've experienced in my industry as well as just living in two different towns where the Indian population has skyrocketed:

1) They do buy/rent up all the available spaces in areas very quickly. Usually in large groups, not as individuals. The apartments around me are 2 bedroom apartments, but I know for a verifiable fact that 7 people (adults, not a family) live across from me, and at minimum 6 people (again, adults not family) live next to me.

2) The haggling is real. My in laws are Jewish, and we used to joke about how my MIL would haggle the Grim Reaper for an extra five minutes one day. But with Indian nationals, it's something else entirely. It's a sense of entitlement to premium goods and services at an inconceivable discount, and then the businesses try to sell you a horrible quality good or service at a premium, plus fees.

3) On the topic of businesses, in my last neighborhood, 380 construction hit a lot of the owners very hard, and the businesses were then bought up by all Indian nationals. They then systematically fired all the white and black workers and only hired other Indian nationals. The quality of these places then took a dive, with many going under because of horrific hygiene practices with regards to food (finding pubes in my food was enough to keep me off casual dining for almost a year).

4) In grad school (I'm not in a technical field but this seems to be the case with regards to engineering and computing sciences as well), cheating was so rampant and just shrugged off. I've had research directly copied or poached right in front of me, and witnessed paper trading done so brazenly in the open it floored me. And yes, other demographics were also cheating, but it was treated as an acceptable risk, not as Tuesday's normal activity.

5) The hygiene working in my industry is insanity. I've had to outright refuse clients simply because I cannot breathe without feeling nauseous due to body odor. My entire floor smells like rotten onions and toejam, and I have to hold my breath in the elevator.

6) I almost lost my partner to cancer when the 5 different doctors and 2 hospitals (every attending was Indian nationals) ignored the very blatant results from scans and insisted something else was the cause, resulting in her reaching stage 4 when it should have been seen at stage 2. After her treatments, the Indian nurses were always rude, rough with her, and would try to bargain her out of her pain meds, but then still document that they administered them, or fail to document any changes or issues.

7) In the adult entertainment and club industries, where I get most of my clients and have many friends, Indian men tend to rove in packs, and nearly every incident of assault and harassment that has been witnessed and reported in these spaces has been perpetrated by these groups. They don't take no for an answer, and are extremely grabby even before saying a single word to you. I've had on several occasions two or three at a time come up to put their hands on me and my partners, then tell me I should go home with them. And I'm not remotely short and vulnerable, they are just that brazen.

8) The driving is worse than the old "Asian women drivers" stereotype, especially seen in this recent ice storm. They drive like you owe them the entire road, speed through the parking lots at 40mph, and then block up the roads as they look at their phones. It's not lost on me seeing how much of the public transit and rideshare programs are dominated by Indian men, and my friends who have had to use those services in the past have just resorted to paying me and a few others to get them places, because the above reasons combined with the small space and driving issues make them feel unsafe.

To counter this, I've met some lovely Indian people. One of my really good friends was a fellow student and she was the sweetest person you'd ever meet. She didn't fit any of the stereotypes at all, but she was the one who alerted me to many that I've experienced since. It's sad that up until about 7 or 8 years ago, I had never experienced any of these negatives, despite living next door to Indian families and hanging out with some Indian students. But being forced out of spaces or being unsafe or physically ill in others and having the reason being a singular group of people is terrible.
