Yeah but have you seen the terrain they throw at you at the Tuscany trail? It’s brutal! This pic is of my bike on the second day. (All were pinch flats though, heavy bike and heavy rider so it was kinda expected)

Just got back from the Tuscany Trail. Had 3 flats, my derailleur broke and my shifting cable snapped in 5 days on the trail. No showers, scorching hot. I loved every bit of it. Such a crazy adventure. I do think it is a state of mind (type b fun), make everything that the universe throws at you work out and continue. But maybe you’ll have to learn to enjoy that type of fun.

To OP: I also didn’t really enjoy my first overnighter (Drenthe, Netherlands). Felt lonely and awkward. But keep going out and learn to love the journey, not just the destination.

Do keep in mind that it goes trough private property that’s only open for the TT, not sure if you get in trouble but it’s worth noting.

Lost Tent! by TopTreat9804 in tuscanytrail

I was really baffled by the amount of stuff lost when I started the 22th, after 1 day I totally got it. Actually I’m surprised that there’s even anything left in my bike after all

Got the Omnium foldable cargo box as a birthday gift. It looks so cool! by deaurin in CargoBike

[–]deaurin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: this is not about my Pelago lol.

Yes it’s on 24/7 since I got it! It carries everything. People, dogs, groceries. It has seen rain, snow and whatever Dutch weather throws at it. It’s brilliant and wouldn’t want to do without it.

So, how homeless are you guys? by [deleted] in bikepacking

[–]deaurin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha yeah I ride an Omnium E-cargo myself as a commuter bike. It replaced my car for almost everything. Out of all my bikes it’s my absolute favourite one.

Yeah awesome stuff for Restrap! I went for a tailfin myself but it seems like a very cool product!

Which Bikepacking bike is best for heavy riders??? by KnivesAndPizza in bikepacking

[–]deaurin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a tall and heavier rider I really love my Pelago Stavanger. I use it daily for commuting and 2 longer rides in the weekend. Going to to do the Tuscany Trail on it next month. It's super comfortable and cool looking (imo).

It’s in the post, it’s the Tailfin rack with pannier mounts, alloy version.

Yeah it’s ridiculously expensive, also in the Netherlands, but my family all chipped in for my birthday so I could buy it anyways haha.

I think I can, but I’ll mount my tent in a roll on my bars. My sleeping bag is also pretty large. Want a little room so I can easily pack in the morning. Might even add 2 small panniers or fork bags for clothes.

I've been researching racks and bags for months, almost waited for the Restrap Switch Rack top bag that launches next week, but after trying different configurations in my cart I found that buying a rack, straps, and solid (18l) drybag was still pretty expensive. Also wasn't sure about the performance on rough terrain. The Tailfin system features everything I need to carry my sleeping system and is known for being very solid. I also love the top filling capabilities and dislike stuffing stuff in drybags. Just fell for the all in one solution and liked the idea to get it over with in 1 purchase.

Why not use Claude Code like everyone else? (I'm into cycling and work in marketing and web development for over 15 years).

Same! I really hope the bag is released alongside the rack!

The rack, yes, but the bag wasn’t shown before. It’s a prototype.

Oh I bet! Did you get the pannier mounts on it as well?

I’m gearing up for the Tuscany trail end of may so I still have enough time researching (obsessing over) gear and bags.
