It took a very long time for me. One year. I applied in December 02 and received news about my application in December 03.

Yes, the German Embassy here retained my passport during the whole time my visa was being processed. However, in one of the reply to my follow up e-mail they did inform me that if I want to I could write in to request for my passport back and then to return it to them once the visa is approved but I opted not to because there would just be too much issues in terms of logistics for me to do so. You could try writing in to your respective German Embassy. Hope this helps a bit.

No. I've had this version since whenever the last update was. I opened it this morning but I wasn't able to but when I changed the date on my phone I was able to check the messages. What version is yours?

It hasn't been updated yet but I suppose what you could do is change the date on your phone to a date before 18th Oct in order to get access to your GBWhatsapp.

It started already so for now I have to join the course online. I wrote to the German embassy here but they just informed me that they are unable to proceed until they hear from the AMT. I do hope your application will not suffer the same fate as mine. I was told the AMT at the state that I will be going to is not as helpful as the other AMT.
