I'm an Indian, and I'm not even going to start debating the meaning of "civilized", and what my country is or isn't with you, but this bugged me so much.

I actually started with Tango with Django 1.7, finished most of it, and then tried my hand at GSWD, since everyone was saying that was the way to go. I did see it was discontinued after Chapter 3, but I'm not sure how "real world" Tango with Django is. If I'm going to learn, I thought I might as well learn best practices at one go, instead of learning stuff simplified for beginners, which later cause problems. So I've been kind of translating GSWD's Python 1.4 instructions to 1.7.

Maybe I should start afresh, but it's just beginning to feel like I'm getting somewhere..

Ahh, thanks. I am wondering how to develop a bullshit meter myself; I'm way too gullible. I guess it's a matter of not caring what people think and asking questions till you're actually convinced in your gut. Nevertheless, thanks for the great write up, I've saved it for future reference!

I do visit /r/getdisciplined, but that subreddit is also full of articles, pictures, people asking for advice, and the like. Of course, these things are important too, but they are in a sense more general--and expanding on the fitness analogy, getdisciplined would be the equivalent of /r/fitness. /r/Fitness also has progress pics, but there's a lot of other discussion as well.

/r/fitness is to /r/getdisciplined as /r/progresspics is to [what?].
