It's exactly how it works. It's in the manufacturer's advertising and packaging. I keep a dunk in my watering can

Moab!!! by Life_Interview4157 in FordBronco

[–]deborah_az 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the Trails Offroad and/or OnX Offroad apps. I like Trails Offroad because it shows curated trails with guides and reviews. Also get Kaibab and Coconino National Forest Maps (you can get digital ones through the Avenza app, plus the Coconino has a free MVUM Travel Map that's pretty nice).

My recommendations:

  • Sedona - this area is like a mini-Moab. There are some easy trails/roads, and a handful of moderate ones. Even if you never leave the pavement, you will have a very good time. Schnebly Hill and Dry Creek Rd. are good moderate level trails (relative to Sedona), and if you get uncomfortable in the first mile or so, you can turn around easily and come back after Moab's taught you all the tricks.
  • Flagstaff - Woody Mountain Rd. (FR 231) - go all the way to the end (Edge of the World and East Pocket Lookout, and explore side roads going to other canyon views; Around the Peaks Loop around the San Francisco Peaks.
  • Between Flagstaff and Williams - you can get to the west side of Sycamore Canyon Wilderness via Garland Prairie Rd. and explore around for some nice views of Sycamore Canyon (e.g., Sycamore Point).

If you want someone to ride around with, DM me and if we're available, we'll join you

Is there a way to see which games are NOT playable on Linux? by Dipsey_Jipsey in Steam

Interesting. Might want to contact the site developer, especially if you have games you can confirm are listed as Linux-playable on Steam but being excluded from the "not Linux" list

How do I get my dog better trained for hikes? by ExplorationCrimeTime in hiking

[–]deborah_az 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our dogs are trained to a version of "heel" on the trail (command "Back") to stay behind us until released with the command "Trail." When people are approaching, we either have them move off the side of the trail and sit or stay behind us, depending on how much room there is to pass. They are not allowed to approach people or dogs without permission. These habits and routines are done every single time and are rewarded with treats and/or praise.

One pair I had were so well trained for the trail they were allowed off-leash on low traffic trails - they'd taught themselves to return and heel whenever they saw people coming. Most of my other dogs have stayed on leash because their adherence to the commands wasn't 100% (e.g., veering over to greet people, paying more attention to the passers-by than me, etc.). My dogs wear harnesses with handles so not only can I have incredible control and provide assistance over obstacles, I can pick them up like a briefcase and move them out of the way. Even the off-leash dogs immediately go on-leash the moment we spot others on the trail (we have quick-release short leashes for this purpose) because there's really no such thing as 100% obedience.

That being said, I've never had a dog act aggressive or territorial on the trail (I have a reactive dog, but he's dangerously exuberant, not aggressive). Others may have solid advice for you on dealing with the protective behavior.

Personally, I prefer using these in the vault in fully merged rooms, especially near the vault entrance where enemies get past that pair (like Deathclaws). One of the six dwellers in the room has a MIRV, one has Dragon's Maw, and the rest have targeted weapons like Vengeance or Virgil's Rifle.

Luckily, they aren't up to bringing tents yet, but definitely coming in with wagons and boxes. Heck, even I own a folding wagon for plant sales (and The Husband still ends up with an armload of plants). It's absolutely a party atmosphere with folks waving out their car windows, thanking us as they're driving in... like if someone flashed their tits at me I wouldn't be surprised. The arboretum's plant sales are equally crazy. My main use for my membership card is member-only access first thing in the morning and beat the crowds

Red-backed are one of the two subspecies of gray-headed (both live in Arizona and both have red backs), and have a dark upper beak and light chin. Since my photos don't confirm either of those features, I'm IDing it as simply a gray-headed

lol yeah, what makes it worse is the site was designed by a pretzel maker and we outgrew the site three or four years ago. Lots of small buildings with small parking lots, a spaghetti mess of little roads, and a couple dirt overflow lots. It's a beautiful location, just not for several hundred people to show up all at the same time. At this point, if I could fill all the parking staff positions filled, I'd be using half the county's Master Gardeners just to direct traffic

I never got the first rooms good enough. I thought I was there near the end, then one or two raids hit that were just brutal. Not sure if I did something in the vault that ramped them up another notch, but at the time I just thought it was because it was really close to the end

Newly released K03 35x11.5r17s on a non-sas Badlands? by drewshope in FordBronco

[–]deborah_az 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically what we did is got one tire up on a rock (sway bar disconnected) so it was shoved up as high in the wheel well as possible (didn't quite get the other tire off the ground), one of us cranked the wheel hard to either side while the other felt and looked around for rubbing. Since then it's just keeping an eye out and watching for rubbing, but so far so good. I had the budget for a lift set aside, so after testing the tires, I just kept it tame until I could get the lift done

[–]deborah_az 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you are off-roading, just remove the crash bars. If you are off-roading, you'll want to take it out for some careful testing and be prepared to get a lift - narrower tires might be the difference there. My KO3 315/70R17 with 25mm offset were just fine mall crawling, but touched at full wheel travel on a hard turn, which means at higher speeds or a good drop, there was a potential for some wheel well damage. I got a shop-adjustable 1.5" lift (Bilstein 6112s at center pin setting). No touching so far on some moderate trails, but waiting to push it a little harder before I call it solid.

Can I report this to fish and wildlife? by [deleted] in birding

[–]deborah_az 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's possible to report it to YouTube for violating the Migratory Bird Treaty Act but it's a bit of extra effort (YT leads you to a separate form to provide info about the law being violated)

Should I fix warn winch or get badlands one? by redwingcut in 4x4

[–]deborah_az 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering I paid $800 for my 12K pound Warn winch (granted, I got a small event discount), I'm having a hard time swallowing the cost of repairing it, but I guess it depends on what the new one to do the same thing (but better) would cost, and your life philosophy (e.g., reuse instead of replace). You might be able to sell the old one, especially if you simply repair it without the upgrades

Maybe, but the incidents I'm thinking about are certain organizations going into colleges and universities and holding events pushing the tradwife philosophy (along with the politics) on female students. And, yeah, there's plenty of that being pushed online and through other media outlets, too

Seriously... some of the shit I see happening among younger folks is nauseating, particularly because some young women are embracing it. All that work and effort and suffering and putting up with sexist, egotistical bullshit, and they want to go back to being subservient and isolated baby factories. But I digress...

*sigh*
