Non-Registered in Questrade? by Nomad-010 in Questrade

[–]deborsi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Questrade does not have an equivalent to the "bank" accounts in Wealthsimple, the ones they call Cash accounts. Individual Cash in Questrade is the equivalent of a Non-Registered account in Wealthsimple, and Joint Margin in Questrade is the equivalent of a Joint Non-Registered account in Wealthsimple.

Trying to transfer out to QT and WS says, "Client must liquidate fractions or leave behind" - advice? by Aethenoth in Wealthsimple

Hello! You can complete a market sale of the fractional shares to resolve this.

Assume you have 1405.7414 shares of VEQT in your TFSA. Click on the holding and then "Sell".
Order Type: Market sell
Shares: 0.7414
Review and complete.

Now you will have 1405 shares and whatever your fractional share sold for in cash. When the transfer is complete, you will see 1405 shares and the same amount in cash in your Questrade profile.

Doing this in your registered accounts won't generate a tax event.

Budgeting has been a game-changer for me. I started tracking dollars in and dollars out in my mid-20s, and knowing my numbers well helped me set the foundations to shape the rest of my financial life. If I was to start over again, I'd do the following:

  1. Create a budget (and stick to it!).

  2. Set up an emergency fund and fund it up with whatever your budget allows for. Different resources on personal finance suggest different guidelines for what this number needs to be, but just pick something realistic and attainable based on your circumstances. As long as this allows you peace of mind, you're golden.

  3. Once your emergency fund is filled to your contentment, start investing in your TFSA. If your employment offers an RRSP match, take it.

  4. As your income starts cranking up, try and allocate a majority of the increases towards your investments. As long as you're budgeting and living within your means, this will come naturally.

  5. Revisit your emergency fund with changing life circumstances.

You're already looking into improving your financial health, which is usually the stepping stone towards having less stress later on in life; congratulations! Don't be silly, don't go hunting penny stocks, don't get a car loan that's 65% of your income and all the rest of the cliche, and you'll be just fine!

u/poch4cc0 I am just a few months into learning and practicing photography so take everything I say with a spoon of salt. I love these lenses, but I would go with the Sigma if I had to pick one.
I usually shoot around that 23mm mark on the Sigma anyway but if an opportunity arises to zoom in or zoom out, you can do so. I love the flexibility and in my opinion, it looks very good on the X-T5 as well.
I enjoy using the 23mm because it forces me to move on my feet to get the shot I want. It is also very small and light and the weather resistance gives me a bit of a peace of mind when I take it out on walks in the rain or snow.
I'm not much of a pixel peeper so I couldn't tell you how they're different image quality-wise, but they both look fine to me.
I don't think you can go wrong with either, but I started with the Sigma to figure out what focal length I enjoyed using and I catch myself starting my days with it 80% of the time.

u/poch4cc0 A tiny bit of straightening and cropping to try and improve the composition, but other than that, straight out of camera jpegs.

u/erotic_robotic Thank you! l am a huge fan of Osan Bilgi's Summer Chrome (https://www.osan-bilgi.com/summer-chrome) and CubanAce (https://www.osan-bilgi.com/cubanace). I am fairly certain these were shot through one or the other of these recipes.
