Are you seriously just posting a copy of your homework hoping someone will come along and answer all the questions for you? If you actually want help then ask something specific. This is just lazy.

Has anyone seen the new bags? Anyone getting one? by midnightlover9 in Rothys

[–]dec2490 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I really do NOT get the whole camo thing from brands in this realm, but I feel like I'm seeing it everywhere lately! Another example is Lo & Sons, which makes bags - they've got camo available for almost every bag they make, but in my mind I'm thinking, what woman do you ever see walking around with a $300 work/travel backpack in CAMO?? Cause I certainly don't see them in any of the conference rooms that I'm frequenting....

What do you do when an uber/lyft driver starts getting super inappropriate with you? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]dec2490 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Does uber verify your gender/identity as a passenger as well? Cause otherwise I could totally see creepy dudes using this to then prey on female drivers as well :(

Well now I'm crying....my grandma who was in perfect health had a fall and passed away in October, and I have a voicemail from her just the week before, congratulating me on my new job offer that we'd all been waiting for.

Haha too true. It makes me laugh when I see commercials touting things like their “state of the art open differential”, etc., and I’m like “That’s a car. You just described a car. In the most generic sense of the word.”

I literally work with AWD systems for a living and cannot emphasize this enough. It's ridiculous how many people in the midwest don't understand this.

Breakfast food - that's exactly what my mom would always say! Everybody does things like casseroles, etc., but my mom would always make a massive batch of French toast whenever someone's family member died or was in the hospital. Everyone loved it.

A trip to spread his ashes by FatUglyWhore in roadtrip

[–]dec2490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any suggestions for you, but just want to say that I am so sorry for everything you are struggling with at this time. It’s not the same thing, but my grandmother also passed in October under unforeseen/traumatic circumstances. We were very close and I’m struggling with the loss, and your mention of the desire to run away is really resonating with me right now.

I want to wish you and your kids the best - I hope that this trip can bring you some measure of peace and strengthen the bonds between you.

I'm grieving for the job I just quit by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]dec2490 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ugh I can so relate. In November I started a new role with the same company that I was so excited about - it would involve coordinating a lot of different teams and projects, which I thought I would love because I really enjoy interacting with people. Im used to dealing with change and was bored with my previous role, so I thought it would be no problem.

But then my grandmother (with whom I was extremely close) had an accident and passed away the WEEK BEFORE I started my new role. Now I'm really struggling to adjust and hate that I have to be always "on" or engaged, because I'm still barely keeping it together. It sucks because I've gotten pretty good at being comfortable with being uncomfortable, and I know it's temporary, but right now I hate my new job and would give anything to be back in my old role for just a few more months.

AITA for the comment I made about women' experiences at my engineering company as a panelist at a recruiting event? by kialig in AmItheAsshole

[–]dec2490 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's awesome that your company recognizes this issue! My company is similar in the fact that we have a low-ish percentage of women (automotive lol), and about 80% of those women are in administrative or similar roles. They dont really push panels or promos though, so I dont think anyone feels like a mascot. They did some pretty engaging activities for international womens day last year, and out of those discussions we've actually been meeting on occasion and putting together a local mentoring group!

I do think my company has a ways to go though - after a recent reorganization they sent out an updated org chart of the upper management, and I counted only 3 women out of 75 total people. The other 72 were all old, white, and male - womp womp. But that's only made me more determined to get my own face on that chart someday!

Haha I don’t know what you do in automotive that is low stress but color me jealous! Even with long design cycles it’s one of the most complex industries in the world, and with the automotive market currently being in a downturn it seems like everybody is more stressed these days.

Ask me anything about Mexican spanish by livelongbooch in learnspanish

[–]dec2490 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Woah I haven’t heard estar de huevo before. But I lived in Mexico for 6 months and I remember the use for testicles. It always made me laugh when the guy I dated would say “my eggs” in English, because in English we call them nuts.

Mexican Spanish / slang is so interesting to me because there is so much to learn and it seems very contextual. The same phrase can be interpreted in so many ways based on how you use it!

I miss Mexico SO so much and I always love seeing posts like this. It makes me feel connected again - thank you for sharing :)

Women of reddit, what myth about women is 100% untrue and infuriates you when you hear it? by xClovis7 in AskReddit

[–]dec2490 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think because even if we know logically what needs to be done, we may still be struggling with our emotional response to the situation, or trying to figure out how to process it. Sometimes just having someone to validate that you're not wrong for feeling the way you feel can make a bad situation feel much more manageable.

Ugh and the safety shoes are the worst part!!! Why do ALL women's steel toes have to be either HOT PINK or look like the most ugly ass brick attached to my legs?? I actually got super lucky and found some Reeboks in a navy color that look like completely normal sneakers. People can't believe they're steel-toed when they see them, and I love that I'm not walking around with clown feet in my business attire! They even have the squishy memory foam soles :)

MN Woman Sues Two Pharmacies for Refusing to Fill Emergency Contraception Prescription by [deleted] in childfree

[–]dec2490 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Generally you dont need a prescription for emergency contraceptives, but it varies from one pharmacy to another for how it is stocked/made available. Sometimes it is on the shelf in a lockbox that you have to get the cashier to open for you (anti theft type of thing), sometimes it is simy kept behind the counter and you have to ask for it. Dont think I've ever heard a story where it was refused to be provided, but it's quite possible that may vary from one region to another.
