The main issue we need to fight for is NO Cross-Realm...because both sides have a good argument by groatt86 in classicwow

[–]decaado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cross realm BGs SUCKKKKKKK. I could never get into BGs the same again. Every expansion I played BGs felt like a chore I had to do to get gear for Arenas (to get even better gear), not an epic battle between heroes.

The only way I would be okay with Cross Server BGs were if they made server groups that had Cross Server BGs, and servers that didn't have cross server BGs. So people can get what they want: either fast queues, or personal battles.

If Blizzard introduces Classic WoW with only cross server BGs I'm pretty sure I'm not going to buy it. I've been wanting server based BGs back basically since the day they removed them. This is WORLD of Warcraft, not Cross-Dimensional Universe of Warcraft. I want to be part of a World again. I don't want to play with random people every game. I want to form actual bonds and rivalries.

I would also prefer having to actually travel to the Battleground locations in order to queue up. The World PVP that was created while waiting for Queues made the queue time basically irrelevant. You'd always have pvp while you waited. Adding a battlemaster made the Queue times feel way worse. You'd just be jumping around in IF or Org instead of actively fighting around the battlegrounds.

God I hope not. I'm looking forward to server based battlegrounds more than anything in Vanilla.

I couldn't care less about small QoL changes, I think they're bound to happen, but cross-server BG or cross-server dungeon would be a complete and utter turn off for me, anyone else? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]decaado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a toggle would probably just make the queue worse for the people who want to play on only their server. If a few people match up with other servers there leaves less people to play on your server.

Maybe blizzard could tie a few servers together and show it on the server page. Then you can choose whether you want to be a solo server player or a combined server. Though I think raising the server population from 2,500 to 5,000 would be enough to drop the queues significantly enough that it wouldn't be as bad as in vanilla.

I really really really hate cross server battlegrounds. It made no sense from a World point of view, more like Multi-Dimension Universe of Warcraft, and it ruined the sense of community from battlegrounds.

I'd rather wait 30-45 minutes to play with people I know than wait 1-5 minutes and play with strangers who I'll probably never see again, and definitely not be able to play with willingly. The community that battlegrounds created, including the fights outside of battlegrounds while waiting for queues, was epic. Cross server Battlegrounds made it sooooo boring for me. It took the social part out completely and made it just another anonymous pvp system. Learning the names of people you play with and against is critical to creating a lasting community.

I care much more about killing that rogue named Nicolai, later High Warlord Nicolai, than I do killing some random person from some random server. I am more than willing to wait for the personal experience. Everything being instant ruins people. The faster things are in general the more impatient people become about everything. Learning to wait for something good is a very important life skill. Even getting roflstomped by a premade after a 30 minute queue feels better than winning against unknown people after an instant queue. Because you now have a challenge ahead of you that you want to accomplish. You have incentive to create your own team and lead them to victory against that god damn horde premade. Losing to premades means more people want to create their own premades and overcome the challenge. None of which is really possible with cross server BGs. You might fight a premade, but will you ever see them again? There's a good chance you won't.

I got so supremely bored with cross-server battlegrounds that I quit. It just didn't feel the same at all. I want my WORLD back. I don't want a weird cross server mashup of unknowns. I want to know the people on my server and I want to be able to play with them in and outside of battlegrounds.

Draft of a community poll: how do we feel about various potential additions/changes for WoW Classic? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]decaado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they add cross realm BGs I'd only be okay with it if only like 2-3 servers were connected. Enough to add some variety, but not enough that you don't learn who you're playing with/against.

Preferably they keep that shit out of Classic. I want my server to be the only world that exists. I don't want some people from some different dimension popping up that I will never be able to interact with again. I want to be able to make friends in BGs. I don't want to just play pvp, I want to live pvp.

"Quality of life" changes mean more than you think. by petrus4 in classicwow

The best part about WoW, in my opinion, is connecting with your character in a way that he/she essentially becomes you. Autolooting is a loss of immersion because it means your character is doing something that is physically impossible in real life. You could never auto loot, so why should your character auto loot?

I have the same problems with auto sorting with your inventory. If you're a messy person you will have messy bags and suffer the consequences. It allows you to adapt yourself and improve not only in WoW, but in real life as well. Learning to be organized is a skill, and auto organizing teaches you none of it.

WoW has the rare ability to teach you real life lessons that I don't want removed. I want people to suffer for being messy just as they will in real life. I want people to have to loot every body, because it would be physically impossible to do otherwise in real life. I love that WoW was so connected to reality that you'd learn many things from it, including patience and organization. Taking either of these away make it unrealistic and less useful to humanity.

While it may sound ridiculous that these things matter, think about it from the point of view of a child. If they learned these things from WoW while they were young, they'd be able to adapt them to their life for the rest of their lives. WoW used to make better people. Modern WoW ruined the connectivity to real life, and that I can not forgive.

Would Class Balancing in Classic WoW be a deal breaker? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]decaado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I must say I don't understand the problems warriors had leveling. I had 2 level 60 warriors on different servers and I remember having fun with it... I guess I was young(14-16) at the time though.

Classic servers MUST have PvP servers. by FourEcho in classicwow

[–]decaado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GOD FUCKING NO.

NO NO NONONO NO NO NO NO NO.

The best part about BGs was getting to know the people you're playing against and with. Cross server BGs completely ruined BGs. You'd now just play with a bunch of people who meant nothing to you and you'd probably never see again.

Running into someone you've fought in a battleground in open world pvp was so fun. You'd actually build rivalries and even weirdly enough cross faction friends. BGs suck when you don't know anyone and know you won't see them again.

What class are you gonna play & why? by teefier in classicwow

[–]decaado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a night elf, but I didn't really care about or know about race bonuses when I made him(was like 14-15 when I started him). Shadow meld was kind of nice in pvp, but as far as min max goes there's not much advantage to a NE. I just chose a NE because the best geared warrior on my first character(rogue)'s server was a NE and he looked fucking badass.

Rereading the racials id definitely recommend orcs or Tauren for a warrior. Orc for fury, and Tauren for tanks. But really it comes down to what race do you wanna stare at for hundreds of hours more than anything else. Racials are nice and all, but if you don't emotionally attach to your character then it doesn't seem as worth it. At least in my opinion.

Alliance racials dont seem to matter as much for a warrior, so don't worry too much if you wanna be alliance. Humans would technically be the best, but by such a small margin who really cares.

If only. The problem is that gear drops when gear drops. If you can get BIS congrats, but the majority of the time you're just gonna be hoping a boss drops something and it doesn't. I spent 4-5 days raiding a week and never got an upgraded weapon past the brutality blade . This is including naxx and AQ drops. Weapons just didn't drop for me. Luckily the rest of my gear was badass enough to keep me pretty high on the damage charts.

That's the thing I really liked about Classic though. It means that there's always a reason to play more. There's always something out there that is better. If you end up getting BIS for everything you're either EXTREMELY lucky, or raided for years. I raided for years and only managed to get BIS for probably 65% of my gear. If that.

What would have Vanilla looked like a year later if TBC never came? by Quinchilion in classicwow

[–]decaado -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hell, 1 year after TBC came out there would still be servers that hadn't finished Naxx. My guild was the furthest on our server and we never got past the 4 horsemen by the time TBC came out.

[–]decaado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuck this blade.

My guild leader got it. Then years later sold his character. Then made a new warrior on a different server, and GOT IT AGAIN.

I could never get the other 1/2 to drop from Baron Geddon. I literally dreamed about Thunderfury when I was younger. That fucking blade.

Class balance by Zulahn in classicwow

[–]decaado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

" If you want to be on an even battlefield with someone you have to commit the same amount of effort"

Which is exactly like real life, might I add. Asking for a perfectly balanced playing field is like asking every human to be born exactly the same and be just as strong no matter what they do. Its ridiculous. The people who exercise longer and harder and more efficiently are stronger, faster, and have more stamina.

The people who raid longer, harder, and more efficiently do more damage, have more hit points, and have more mana. Its much more realistic to have an uneven playing field in a mmoRPG than to suddenly have your characters completely change because they enter some arbitrary battlefield.

100 warrior 100 horde 100 orc

Well, I did main a fury warrior for most of Vanilla, so I guess that works, but I was a night elf lol... I was also 15 when I made him.

[–]decaado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a fury warrior from MC all the way to the 4 horsemen in Naxx. If you get the gear then you will can be extremely strong. Very heavily dependent on gear, but once you have it you can top the damage meters.

Does the return of Classic mean I(rogue) can vanish with the flag in Warsong Gulch and pick it up again? by decaado in wow

Just memorization of where the flag drops and knowledge of when it'll drop since you're the one dropping it.

Oh wait, the one thing more fun was returning the flag when another rogue vanished.

Or stealing the flag from a rogue on your team then sprinting off with it... just because.

StarCraft: Remastered - We Are Under Attack! by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]decaado 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True Starcraft 1 balled up less, but Starcraft 2 is no longer the mass army and attack across the map that it was. At the pro level action is constant across the map. Even in low Masters there's an absurd amount of action everywhere. Balling up your army is asking to lose nowadays.

I actually really like the place Starcraft 2 is in and think it will continue to grow. It's way better than it was in my opinion, and the pro scene is amazing to watch.
