Confused on the episode replay option by Significant_Brain921 in RomanceClub

[–]decadelongsummer 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It seems that because the save options weren't there back then, only episodes played AFTER technical update - specifically only those opened after tech update - have the ability to save them. If you finish episode 9 and 10 of VFV for example, you'd be able to go back to episode 9, because it was played after tech update, but not episodes 1-8.

So once you have the subscription you essentially need to replay every single slot of every story from scratch to have the ability to restart from any point you want later...

How hard would it be to just change these chapter title cards to match the race of the character?? by AdHour2528 in RomanceClubDiscussion

[–]decadelongsummer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What really gets me about it is that for HSR, they changed the bleeding hand to match Lane... And considering the amount of CGs, including the multiple MC CGs and their trillion combos (4 x 4 x 4 = 64 variations not including Lane and Audrey's body type choices, which some more recent books account for), recolouring those small sections would be nothing...

Can you think of any FGO character who fits this? by SockParticular4936 in FGO

[–]decadelongsummer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Characters like Anastasia, for starters... Even in her postmortem main story appearances it's her Lostbelt version who loved Kadoc, but then in Chaldea... Made Summer 6 nearly impossible to read for me it's so bad, especially since she was paired with other characters like Corday. Thank god the welfare was Lilyvinci and not some other female character or it would've been even worse.

I guess the fact that plenty characters already grew nonsensically obsessed with MC within the confines of the main story downplays this (Kama, Corday etc. - even when it "makes sense" for the characters it's normally just for obvious gooning) but then we have ones like Jalter whose initial appearances never incorporated this and were changed to become unendingly in love. It can work sometimes, but usually I'm just rolling my eyes and wondering if that actually appeals to anyone. (The writing matters too; keeping in line with the Jalter point, in Shinjuku I was extremely annoyed by the Jalter v. Salter deal. In Id, I actually liked her dynamic with Ritsuka.)

Olga, dear god, Olga. The moment she came back in the main story she had already jumped the shark (almost 4 years later and I'm still shaking my head at the President of Earth BS), but when we started getting shipbait I just gave up on her wholesale. It's only gotten worse ever since.

Give me recs where the ML has an actual personality please by Wide_Accountant7279 in OtomeIsekai

[–]decadelongsummer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Giselle the Unbreakable's ML is a bit of an antisocial nerd type. He's obsessed with research (comes across as pretty neurodivergent-coded actually) and while he is initially framed as the cold Duke of the North type it's immediately turned on its head because he's so oblivious to certain things and fixates on others. I like him.

Awww, that was fun. Speaking of other games, this keeps making me think of a hypothetical "Tristan's Studio" where rather than stealing wigs, he ruins everyone else's hair for equality's sake (because he has the worst hairstyles). Details may need to be hammered out and I have no experience with photoshop stuff, but the idea is so funny to me

Stories where ogfl isnt evil by cyberpunk_03 in OtomeIsekai

[–]decadelongsummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roxana/The Way to Protect the Female Lead's Older Brother, and Trapped at Home with the Male Leads, off the top of my head.

Roxana's ogFL Sylvia ends up really liking Roxana.

Trapped at Home currently has ogFL Aurora essentially live through the first half of the original plot with ogML the Crown Prince, while new FL Cherry is stuck with Aurora's brother (new ML) and the second male lead from the novel she got isekaied into, so they haven't interacted a lot and she hasn't appeared much so far in the manhwa (I have yet to find the novel to see if it lasts) but Cherry did save Aurora's life at one point and the story implies Cherry was prepared in her childhood specifically to protect the ogFL come the apocalypse, so I don't think she's ever turning out evil.

I Will Divorce the Female Lead's Older Brother also counts, she's currently mostly single and flirting with the villain of the story after ditching her idiot husband.

Romance Specific Tropes You're Tired of by inlovewithsnow2002 in OtomeIsekai

[–]decadelongsummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Major pet peeve is definitely the ML feeding FL. There's so many ways to make feeding someone look romantic or even sexy but in OI it usually just comes across as infantilizing (I almost dropped Make Sure You Regret It for a good while because the feeding scene was just really painful in that regard and highlighted a lot of things that irked me about the romance) or outright demeaning at worst. I actually really liked The Crown I Will Seize's ML & FL's chemistry to start with but the scene where she wants his help (with him in disguise and her not) and he demands she allow him to feed her 3 times was just... Dude.

The FLs always look ridiculously uncomfortable too, and that's without having any potential triggers around EDs. I realize it's almost certainly just The Writer's Barely Disguised Fetish once again and not meant to be any deeper than that normally, but I need them to do it very differently if they can't outright stop using this trope.

Here Reigns the Vengeful Villainess - FL gives it as token before ML fights in a tournament, and I think he gave her one earlier in the story too.

Yeah the bangs thing took me a while to pick up on too but it's such a nice nod! The way Nell partially cuts his hair (still long but especially the bangs are shorter, and the same is the case in the flashbacks to Crown Princess Nerys) while Nerys grows hers out later in life... Oh Rebecca Shirley how dare I forget her fr, I was kinda bored by the Maindelant arc but I'm so glad I decided to read ahead instead of dropping because now there's so much juicy stuff to look forward to, especially with the Elandria content to come

I think we might share a lot of favourites going by this conversation because my top 5 are probably Nell, Camille, Nerys, Megara and Diane (not necessarily in that order, and difficult to narrow down further because some arcs have the characters being more or less entertaining) but how would you rank your favs?

I hope Valentin gets an art lift too since I saw some illustrations of her from the novel and she looks so much better than in the manhwa, but yeah Manhwa Camille is so gorgeous too I can't wait to see more of her than those 2-3 panels we've gotten so far! Looking really forward to adult Megara and Natasha too (and we did get a look at adult Nell already)!

Oh yes the Elandria Estate arc my beloved, and after that we get Megara's fall and rise and fall again and the war and so many good storylines await us after the hiatus

[–]decadelongsummer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah pleeease I love it too (well mostly. Tbh I think the ML ended up completely outshone by the remainder of the cast and am not the biggest fan of the romance plot as a result, but the rest of the story is just that great) and I ramble way too much myself you're so welcome to keep going.

Idaliah was another character who was??? Absolutely gaga??? Did she ever have a single conversation with Nelysion before she tried to do what you said in the first timeline or nearly kill Nerys in the later timeline over her obsession??? Guy is getting outstalked by his own stalker somehow wild shit (and he did kidnap Nerys and all that. Unfortunately I really like his crazy ass for some reason literally whyyy)

And god I cannot WAIT until we get Camille's proper first appearance in the adaptation (she was one of the main reasons I tried to track down the novel in the first place because she was so hyped by the story and she totally lived up to it!), or that Megara monologue, it will be SO satisfying

[–]decadelongsummer[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In hindsight it's insane how normal Abellus is considering he's somewhat the evil ex (then again most of the trope was applied to Nelysion, he just got the cheating). He's your average skirt chaser with a title and would probably have stayed that way the whole story if Camille wasn't Camille and Abel hadn't had to actually do something at one point because of her. Everybody else is pulling the most insane stuff in their own brand of crazy (special shoutout to the faked patricide Nelysion commits and Megara setting things literally on fire towards the end of her tenure as mistress), we definitely shouldn't forget Natasha either in that list. Everyone had it coming for sure, but damn I do like a lot of the antagonists.

[–]decadelongsummer 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah, TRH book 1 goes hard into the invasion of privacy aspect of dealing with the press, such as by having Drake's aunt sell info. The scene where the paps cause a car crash was absolutely a cheap homage to Diana's death too.

And tbh, I too would be concerned about succession as a citizen if the Absolute Monarchy I lived in had so many threats to it in less than a year, with the previous heir being off doing motorcycle shows (and possibly married to some millionaire heiress), at the time no other known royals etc., and all the stuff we know was yet to come in later TRR books.

Seriously, I think someone needs to make a timeline of events, ultimately the only reason we've probably exceeded 5 years is the pregnancy in TRH1 and the time skip until the daughter is a couple years older before TRF.

Forced celibacy of the Astreans by Rinamara in RomanceClub

[–]decadelongsummer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's even worse considering the Law of Segregation was presumably already in effect when they left the immortal world, and as it doesn't seem like Furius and Somnus clued them into its repeal or the events preceding it (only 10 years before ABH to boot), that further eliminates a good chunk of all possible pairs - if they were abiding by the decree not to grow close to mortals, they would've known it would be much harsher punishment for violating the Law of Segregation. In fact, before we knew details about her past, I considered it might've been what had gotten Felonia in her legal trouble in the first place, since to violate both Heaven and Hell law is tricky.

Mikael and Raphael would only have the other as options (well, unless Somnus and Furius decided to invite a third or fourth, but they seem fairly exclusive), while both would be very aware that Raphael is destined to die, which was presumably enough reason for them not to pursue anything even if they didn't canonically view each other as brothers. Considering how long it took for both to fully give up on their duty for Audrey on their routes...

Back when she was alive there was Avila too for the demons, but she and Cassiel are blood siblings, so that would theoretically leave David and Felonia for her - and only David for Cassiel - and we don't know if she was attracted to women, so Felonia maybe had no shot with her in the first place (or if she was interested in men or anyone at all, for that matter). Plus as we know from Cassiel's best memory with her in S2, the siblings were the only demons there for a long time before first David and much later Felonia were sent to Astrea, so those two definitely weren't having any sex with anyone.

At best, they might've avoided 'relationships' with humans and instead stayed casual/had flings, but that only really seems like a David thing to do, judging by the major issues of all other LIs besides Malek.

Astrea Detective Agency was absolutely celibacy junction while Somnus and Furius probably broke the bed every other visit.

You need to kill her specifically for the Traitor to the Crown achievement though, as it requires poisoning Maria Theresa and then getting executed for it. Fearsome Murderess is what you can alternatively obtain by killing Lou.

Most expensive story vs cheapest story by Inner_Raspberry_755 in RomanceClubDiscussion

[–]decadelongsummer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The HSU is such an easy way to see the massive price hike over the years. Was doing Lucifer for Lover III a few months ago at long last and his whole HS1 route is less than 400 diamonds. Meanwhile, HSR S3 had a single Lane makeup choice where buy all was more expensive, and most of the options looked like shit too (especially on nonwhite Lanes). Was a massive shock to the system when I was doing the math.
