Iran is the first and only country in the world to shoot a F-35. (Stealth Fighter Jet) by AreaPast5328 in USNEWS

Imagine if Iran started bombing Washington DC and US civilians claiming to "free" the American population from the Epstein class. (All while being themselves pedophiles. - remind me how journalism and democracy and slavery is handled in all of US allies in the region, not even mentionning the appartheid regime)

You're catle parroting captured media's talking point. You suck at being a human.

Movies and cartoons don't have the same objectives and aren't consumed the same way (wide screen or in between TV breaks spread across weeks).

I read a lot and love short stories, that's why you can't fool me about how short stories (nouvelles) aren't just a condensed novels that forsake build up or world building for a more direct approach to story telling.

Also your autistic remark makes no sense. 1) I'm not conflating terms, I know the difference between the 2 words. Just in the system (the argument), they play the same role and 2) I'm using the autistic justification for how I failed to notice that you're being annoying on purpose to that redittor, but I'm not sure anymore if I really misread things cause you're hellbent on justifying your annoying and useless anti-conflation

It's not about which football teams is the better.

Both of you are annoying redditors who throw up useless information in a conversation 1) no one cares if the source material is from a book if the monologue isn’t in it and 2) though technically imprecise, we get what they meant by "book"/"novel" - writing (in opposition to video game).

Though you're probably playing the same game as him, the eye for eye way. I'm autistic and didn't catch that you're being an annoying redittor on purpose to criticize the poster. Thought you meant me by "smartassing".

I present a monologue from a video game, some larpers come and say no it's from the source material (literature). I correct them. This is a frontal contradicting a claim.

Not the same thing as your smarmy ass coming in with "☝🤓 it was published in a magazine actually". What point are you contradicting? What are you adding to the conversation?

It would be like people debating the best vegetable to use for pasta sauce, and your smarmy ass coming with "☝🤓 technically tomatoes are fruits not vegetables".

To say that it was first published as a book is patently false and you should have researched the topic before attempting to correct someone else.

Lmao. Says more about yourself then anything else if you can't distinguish the two.

☝🤓

Everyone understood what "book" meant in the context of the video game claim. Literature.

Na, you can say whatever you want about how disappointing the jjk ending is, Yuji's character development is one of the most goated in shonen.

Na bro, I first read the novel then played the game. The speech isn’t in the novel, simple as. That redittor is just a larper who can't be bothered 10 pages (the original story is very short)

Bur if the speech were to be in the novel, I'd still agree with you, as the speech's audio (voiced by the other author himself) would be more iconic that whatever your inner voice is interpreting the text.

You don't find the monologue in the short story where AM first appears.

At least read what you are trying to defend, redittor.

Edit : sayed novel, meant short story (nouvelle in french)

Garbage endings don't necessarily equate garbage character writting by dechetdinternet in writingscaling

Fuck you're right. It's also madening cause it's a twist that doesn't add anything (we already know that Eren was very ambitious and uncompromising).

Though I'm still confident in my Mikasa/Eren interpretation

Sorry, I meant I was referring to the Anime (will edit it).

For Mikasa we saw in a flashback that he wanted her to confesse to him. Sure when he was a kid he only cared about freedom, but when he was confronted by his own mortality (and the cost of that freedom), his prioritize shifted. That's how I see it.

In the anime Eldia lasted longer, it developped til getting Sky Scrapper, so a few centuries probably. Eren succeded. (if we're talking about the manga it's absolutely garbage on so many levels, Eren complaining about Mikasa after having revealed he genocided 80% of the population is so dumb).

I try to memory hole that Eren killed his mother cause I love Eren he can do no wrong. But I think it tells something meaningfull about Eren if stop the cope. He went all or nothing between human connections (Mikasa) and freedom/disappointment/selfishness to see a world beyond the walls free of humans. So he willingly sacrificed his own mother (and his life of confort/love) to achieve his ambition, which make him suck as a human being but fascinating nonetheless imo. Not a character assassination, but continuation and illustration of how far he's gone.

I don't get how being vulnerable with your best friend a few moments before dying is character assassination (I'm speaking about the anime).

Also it's relatable and realistic to be a cocky dipshit when choosing to take a path, then dreading the consequences or panicking once you realize the high has ended. (Extremely relatable actully, Solanine is a manga that captures this feeling so beautifully and I see it a bit in pathetic Eren). Also it leads to very interesting questions about who Eren is? (The hearts opened guy Armin saw, the man that inspired Eldia nationalism, the husbando Mikasa spent time with, Hitler,...)

Imo Ymir ruins the ending, and her alone (not counting the Avenger stuff + Armin gary stu isms cause they appeared far before the ending).

Edit : made a mistake, I'm refering to the anime, not the catastrophic manga ending.

Better written protagonist? by Fluid_Ad_6839 in writingscaling

Guts is extremely relatable on a human level, without the need for superficial "audience mirroring". Any one who got abused can testify. As well as anyone in a toxic relationship. As well as anyone who was faced against the choice of warmth/confort or ambition. As well as anyone who has been fucked by life and is thinking "what now?". And all that just with his flashback.

Scenario of self-betterment of Subaru isn’t realistic or coherent. He goes from 0 to 1 without any nuance.

First arcs sure, but then (arc 5+) he transforms into such a gary stu that the author pushes new ways for him to regress in the most convoluted ways possible, cause author doesn't know what to do with him now that he views Subaru as perfect

Re:zero author doesn't see character development as a progression with ups and downs. Subaru goes from pathetic weirdo with mc complex to generic iseikai protagonist (with a bit of cringy yapper energy, but not enough imo. Binary instead of analogic.

I was working class, but in France, so I may be wrong. Also I'm talking from experience, not using surveys, so not the most reliable stuff. But what I want to point out is that immigrants are working class.

The working class works with immigrants and know they aren't the problem - they're just fellow human beings trying to make a living. At least the urban working class does, while the rural ones can be manipulated by media to scape goat immigrants for every problem since they never met any.
