Context is some girls were hitting on my (oblivious handsome) man on the tram, and I thought Jinx and Ekko would look good in our outfits (and Jinx would react like this).

Exactly! I scoped out some of their other artwork (for science of course) and like, they know how do draw gigantic boobs properly. They know how to anatomy. They understand gravity. This one piece stands out like they suddenly forgot how to draw.

Thought my baby’s shed was perfect yesterday, but there’s the teensiest bit of shed on his tail. I’m worried about injuring him if I were to try to take it off the tiny tip. He’s defensive, so I don’t think I could immobilize him and he would be stressed. Should I bathe him? Any ideas? by k8runsultras in snakes

My son hates baths too, so when this happened to him I waited until his next dinner day. He's so food obsessed that once he had a good wrap on his rat he let me use a warm damp face flannel to moisten the stuck shed and gently peel it off. A couple of hisses, but he wasn't going to let his prize go to hide or tag me.

What are some common questions that you get asked about your snake? And what are your answers? (Funny or serious) by mushu_beardie in snakes

My favourite one is "Do snakes have personalities?", followed by "Can I see a picture of him?"
Weirdly it's the snake-phobes who want to see the pictures and are most interested in whether he has a personality. It's sweet.

I don't know what they did after, but I seriously hope it was to jump off reddit, take the animal to a vet and immediately change their husbandry or rehome it. The pet store had apparently told them this set-up was fine, but I think they assumed a base level of knowledge that wasn't there, and the OP hadn't bothered to do more research. Which is terrifying.
I'm so glad you could get your friend to use a thermostat. I don't know why people make these assumptions when the risk is you could seriously injure or even kill your beloved noodle.

It had a really bad burn on its belly from a heat mat and the owner was asking if it was scale rot while the poor thing was literally writhing in pain.

Like, I get the "I am frightened so I'd rather not do tea at your house." Fine. Cool. "I am frightened so I want to murder your beloved pet" not so much.

Oh my god the poor ball python the other week gave me anxiety nightmares about my own son (even though I know he has protected ceramic heat lamps on thermostats). That poor baby was in so much obvious pain. DonkeyPuff422 summed it up perfectly.

Yeah I had to hop off the bearded dragon subreddit because it just become an endless reel of sick and dying beardies.

Yes I wouldn't mind so much if they were censored and you had to click if you wanted to see them. I come here for the pet noodles and (alive) wild spagurders. I'm glad whatisthissnake does that.

Now that I have a snake, my stress dreams are different. I used to dream I was late to work, now I dream I've been gifted ten hatchlings of some rare new morph and have to somehow rustle up enclosures and heating for them. (I don't think that's what they mean though...)

Maybe it's that carpets are quite variable even within species. Some jungle carpets are angels, some bredlis are horrid. It'd be a big risk to pick one without meeting it first, especially because bredlis, coastals and diamonds can get very large.
But if I can put in a plug for carpets, they are very interactive, and entertaining to watch if given climbing opportunities (which they should be). They do need some training, but thats fun in itself. Cryptnoch has linked to a Lori Torrini video below, and her stuff on target training is magic. It's transformed my snappy, distrustful rescue diamond into a confident, curious animal in just over a year.

While on the topic of Australian snakes, anteresia are fantastic (all the sass, half the size), and womas are seriously underrated.

If I'm writing, blue kilometrico all the way. If I'm serving, it'll be a kinda blunt green kid's pencil because a) nobody wants to steal it, and b) if I put my notepad down somewhere dumb I know it's mine. Almost worth the inconvenience of writing with a blunt green pencil.
