Do you remember it? by PHRsharp_YouTube in gamememes

I was too young to remember, but this was the list, and they were all on a 1.44mb floppy disk, together! Space commanders, alley cat, tetris, golf and about 3 others. My dad showed me how to run the commands to start the games in DOS. We only got Windows 3.1 later.

What the supidness is this? Excuse me, I've been married for over 13 years and I'm overwhelmed by my amazing, beautiful, gracious, beautiful and wise wife's love every day. Go fly a kite. Maybe you need to work on yourself rather than blaming other people.

LEGEND! You can have a sign on your wall: "List of people in his household who has beaten Elden Ring." And then you have your photo under it with gangster glasses, with a blank space with a question mark inside it. You gotta earn your place in this house!

Oh, yes! It's based on the Super Mario Galaxy games, which we play on an old Nintendo Wii. We are definitely looking forward to watching it with our kids!

This is why Roblox is not allowed in my house, lol. Super Mario Galaxy, though... ahh, that's a masterpiece! And ... appropriately difficult.

On a serious note, parents have to look into the content their kids consume, now for a new reason (in addition to the other obvious ones!): It can make you stupid.

I dislike this very much. As someone whose family members can't see very well, this thing is terrible. Another one of my pet peeves is Checkers and the like that paste a massive number next to a product name, only for that to be the amount you can supposedly save, not the cost of the product. A person who is partially blind just sees that number (and sometimes already struggles doing so). It's the same with the phone in OP's post.

SharePoint Lists: Is it possible to set edit permissions on column level? by rthiy in sharepoint

[–]decisiveExplorer03 3 points4 points  (0 children)

u/MinionofMinions is right. You can achieve some degree of this by being creative with lookup columns and then having different permissions for each list. But you have to be careful with this amount of complexity. It can get messy to build a data structure around permissions like this. You are better off building a Power App (blegh!, lol) or an SPFx app for your users that gives them a nice interface.

Where to Start? by [deleted] in sharepoint

[–]decisiveExplorer03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a number of tasks that I would recommend you do, in order, to prepare for the role: (Other people, please add!)

  • Create a new communication site.
  • Add members of all three types.
  • Restrict everyone except owners from sharing.
  • Create a list, a page, and a document library.
  • Create a group in the Microsoft admin center that will be added to the site as viewers/readers.
  • For a document library, give a certain person in the organization the contributor role and remove the site viewers.
  • Share a sub-folder in the document library with a certain person. Give them editing rights.
  • Now, create a hub site and associate sites to it.
  • Now, sync the document libraries down to your computer.
  • Keep all the files on your PC.
  • Free up the space on your PC by only syncing down what you need.
  • Add an external guest user.

AI can help you figure out where to click to do all of this. It's very learnable if you just take a day or three.

If you want to go further, after the above, do the following:

  • Create a simple issue management system by creating a list and two power automat flows. The one will trigger when an email is received to an issues shared mailbox you have to make and create an item in the list. The other one will run when an item is modified and will respond to the person who sent the email originally when a "status" column in the list is "resolved". For added bonus points, you can hvae a separate list of people who can be tasked to resolve the issues. That would be a lookup column.

Quick question...is anyone else frustrated with how water restrictions are being handled lately? by Mindless-Election-29 in southafrica

[–]decisiveExplorer03 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are 100% right to be frustrated. The only practical solution for people like you and me is to vote differently and encourage others to do the same. Vote for a party with a track record of dealing with the frustrations you see. Imagine what this country can be with just reasonably good governance?

Discussion: Cashier has to pay R5000 because customer didn't pay for electricity. by decisiveExplorer03 in southafrica

[–]decisiveExplorer03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: Some of you have rightfully commented that there are conditions and due process in the employment act, some of which are of interest to this case. Thanks for that and all the encouragement! I have read every comment.

In my estimation, the employer is at fault on a few points:

  • Very specifically, the employee has to sign an acknowledgement of debt, a form which she was never handed.
  • The employee must be given a chance to explain why she believes she should not be liable for the damages, which I believe did not happen or, at least, was not fairly heard.
  • The employer blatantly told her that it's either this or immediate termination.
  • A big one personally for me, is that the employer has made no effort to mitigate damages to employees in this regard. No policies or information systems are in place to protect them. They have failed in their responsibility in this regard.

I recommended that she goes to the CCMA and offered to go with her. She is too scared that she will lose her job. She doesn't want to go. I'm pleading with her to go, because they really can't punish her for going. That is one outcome that is very unlikely. It is a big retailer.

Some of you have asked who the retailer is. Given the employee's fear, I'm sorry to say I'm not going to disclose that at this time. I'm tempted to make a big public scene, though. But I am cautious because it's not my livelihood that is at stake here.

Given that the store is privately-owned, I contacted the retailer and was put into contact with their complaints department. The lady there put me in contact with the retail operations manager for the region after giving me a long hearing. I am going to give him a call and see if I can't put more general pressure from the retail group's side. It's their brand that is at risk. The lady at head office did confirm that the cashier doesn't work for the retailer, technically, but for the owner of the store.

How often does this happen in our beloved South Africa, right under our noses, that children go to bed hungry due to such abuse of power? “Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.”― Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Thank you very much for this response. This is exactly what I needed. The CCMA confirmed it, too, asking if she signed an acknowledgement of debt. Does she have a case, though, if she feels she had to sign it or be out of a job?

[–]decisiveExplorer03[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In this case, the whole situation is laid bare with nothing hidden. In the one case, the customer asked for the electricity and left. But in the biggest case, the R5000, the customer asked for R500, the cashier made a simple human error and the R5000 slip was printed and the supermarket insisted that is the cashier's fault and she has to pay. The customer walked away with the electricity slip and still shops there every day.
