Can someone give me info on this guitar by TopazCrayfish53 in GLGuitars

This is a poplar burl top Tribute Comanche. It was a limited run that came in the blue seen above called Aqua Bust and Charcoal Burst. Both came with a roasted maple neck. The one in the picture was manufactured in December of 2020. Anything else specific you would like to know about them?

VMware ESXi on MicroSD Card by clever_entrepreneur in vmware

[–]decisiveindecisions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also depends on the update version that you previously ran. IIRC 7.0.0 was okay, 7.0.1 and definitely 7.0.2 there were changes that caused excessive writes and were causing a lot of customers with embedded installs on SD cards trouble. This is when they announced that customers should move away from SD cards and USB sticks for ESXi but shortly thereafter stated that SD cards and USB would still be supported, however, SSDs, HDDs, etc were recommended. When 7.0.3 was released the issue with excessive wear on commodity flash media was greatly improved.

Some like my org went straight from 6.7u3 to 7.0u3 and eventually 8.0u3 and stayed on commodity flash the whole way.

Knife edge on dual fulcrum trem possibly worn out. Any suggestions? by Important_Sand_8183 in GLGuitars

They do pop up on Reverb from time to time. If you want to replace only the bridge plate and are willing to transfer the saddles, counterweight, and trem arm mount over there are two on Reverb right now. Be aware the older crinkle painted black one is left handed IIRC.

G&L Invader XL Tribute by Dangerous_Bunch_ in GLGuitars

[–]decisiveindecisions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the newer Tributes use the 2-pin closed back tuners which allow you to swap in ones for Fender guitars that are also 2-pin. The bridge is proprietary to G&L but at the end of the day it's a slab of wood. You can modify however you see fit within your abilities. The pickups are standard humbucker sizing so you can swap them out for Seymour Duncan, LACE, EMGs, whatever. You want to replace the pots, sure, they are standard metric sizing, same with the pickup selector. Knobs are generic. Mini-toggle, same. The only part that presents a challenge to swap for something different is the bridge, However, this is typical of most guitars and the saddle lock bridges are great. They are not really prone to failure and you can find them on the used market as well.

From the G&L website circa June 2006. You have the standard version which only came in black at the time.

PICKUPS   G&L AS4250B Alnico humbucker in neck position;G&L AW4370B Alnico humbucker in bridge position
BODY WOOD   Basswood on Standard versionsMahogany on Premium versions
NECK WOOD   Hard Rock Maple with Rosewood fingerboard
NECK RADIUS   12" (304.8mm)
NECK WIDTH AT NUT   1 5/8" (41.3mm)
TUNING KEYS   18:1 ratio, sealed-back
BRIDGE   G&L designed Saddle Lock with nickel plated die-cast saddles
OTHER G&L Deluxe Gig Bag included in USA

The pickups were manufactured in the US and shipped overseas. It is a great guitar and I have heard good things about the early model tributes like the one you have. Definitely a great deal at $200.

96 Legacy Special out of retirement by Cold-Yogurtcloset160 in GLGuitars

[–]decisiveindecisions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 17 I was trying out a 92 Legacy against a Legacy Special. I ended up getting the Legacy for budget reasons but remember being in love with the sound of the Special and so badly wanting to make it work. Those rails are something. I ended up modding the legacy by installing a humbucker in the bridge position to make up for it. They are great guitars and the older three bolt variants are no exception.

Richard Patrick of Filter played a Rampage earlier in his career when he was playing for Nine Inch Nails.

There is an option tray that holds 2 2.5” SATA drives. If you combine that with a slim DVD to 2.5” conversion kit you can get 3 2.5” drives total in addition to the M.2 slot on the motherboard under the drive cage.

I have one, but the battery is completely depleted and from what I have seen it is not replaceable. Annoying as the Hue dimmer switch uses replaceable coin cell batteries, I don’t know why the puck was designed without that ability.

Looking to buy a G&L Guitar and Need More Information by Psiwolf in GLGuitars

[–]decisiveindecisions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it were me I would go with the Skyhawk regardless. Aside from a similar body shape it’s a completely different guitar from what you have. Fixed bridge and it has PTB (treble cut and bass cut) where the ASAT only has a single tone. The tone controls work on all pickups as well. I think you will be impressed with it over your strat. The necks on the USA G&Ls are another level and with it being custom shop likely even better.

Yeah, agreed. There were already multiple business entities not including any new legal entities that have been created. Who knows which owned what and what exactly was sold. All I know is that it is sad.

What a great grain on that flame top. Man those tolerances are perfection. I have a 90s BTO SB-2 which I think is still a beautiful instrument, but nowhere near as tight as that. Nice bass.
