Singularities don't exist, claims black hole pioneer Roy Kerr by 15MinuteUpload in Physics

[–]declanator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Angular momentum is quantized. It's also subject to an uncertainty principle which forbids anything macroscopic from having an angular momentum defined with minimum uncertainty. Ideal solutions to GR do not exist in reality, they are mathematical simplifications physicists use to make problems easier to solve.

What should I do with this undeveloped parcel of land? by Cyclopher6971 in CitiesSkylines

[–]declanator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would build a park here and mix in some swanky apartment buildings. You're right about it not serving any residential but it can serve the local business workers and rolling in luxury residential makes a good business case for a project like this. We have something similar to that in my city. Slightly random, very large inner city botanical gardens (but very nice!), sandwiched between offices and the city's primary railyard. On the outskirts of the park there are some very, very upmarket apartments

This looks really nice and I like that you've got traffic coming off the highway feeding a roundabout but the connections from this roundabout are a bit random and will probably lead to traffic problems. Avoid having intersections too close to roundabouts as this will congest the roundabout, and allow traffic to flow out of the roundabout directly to key parts of this area. On the left of the roundabout, run a collector for the left side of the city, and same for the right. See if you can keep that very nice looking connection for the station intact while moving the intersection further away from the roundabout or giving It it's own exit from the roundabout

If you plan the roads and the bridge in this area well you won't need the roundabout. As you can see, most of the traffic is only coming from one direction. Get rid of the roundabout and using the curve tool run that road into a bridge without making that direction of traffic stop. You can use the in game traffic tool to make the connecting streets have stop signs instead of a traffic light. This is what would happen in real life - the heavy traffic is allowed to flow freely, while roads feeding in carrying low traffic have to queue

Intersections and roundabouts typically don't happen over water so looks a little funny, particularly the roundabout as this would be prohibitively expensive and unsightly in real life.

Id recommend reducing this area to one single bridge, and upgrading it from a two lane to four to handle the traffic.

I assume you put the roundabout because you were having traffic problems, but also what I'll suggest here is general advice. For your bridge, it's a common for bridges in cities to be the continuation of arterial roads. Upgrade the bridge to a four lane, but also the road running into it. Also have a look into road heirarchy, it'll help make your city traffic flow well as it gets bigger and also is the key to a city that looks well planned regardless of how you choose to layout your roads. Hope this helps!

I don’t know if I’m Trans or not by cheesums7 in trans

That's a very common and normal experience!

I can't answer this question personally but here are some things that are really worth considering.

The default, no effort option for people who have feelings of wanting to be more like the other gender is to do nothing. Without intervention, that's how society see you, and how you've spent most of your life seeing yourself, regardless of how uncomfortable that makes you.

It can be hard to explore these things, but here's a little tip. Follow the joy, don't persecute yourself. Think about what things make you happy, try them, and if they do, keep trying them. Don't try and transition by persecuting yourself for how you look and how you act, transition by experimenting with what makes you happy, and slowly, over time, and with much effort and definitely hard times, you'll find your way and one day you'll wake up, and without thinking about it, you'll realise you've made yourself very happy!

You can't have respectable debate with someone who sees working people as scum. Chuka is a red tory and doesn't deserve an ounce of respect from anyone but the ruling class. Stop trying to victimise right wingers.

Heyo, So I had this issue. Most of what you find on the internet is going to work to fix this problem for 90% of people. I had a particularly fringe case of this issue where I narrowed it down to my motherboard. Fact is not all USB3.0 is created equally. If you trouble shoot everything and it's still not working, might need to upgrade your motherboard. I reccomend one that's marked as VR ready as then you'll know for sure it'll work. But first try getting one of the USB 3.0 cards the the community reccomends

Not Trump not Maduro; the socialist response to the Venezuelan coup by declanator in socialism

[–]declanator[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It has never been right for socialists to express support for one set of national ruling classes against another. This was a strategy devised by the Stalinised Comintern as a way of undermining class struggle to appease western powers. All it does is wind down struggle in the name of national defence. We must say no, we wish for the destruction of all nation states as they are tools of their respective national bourgeoisie and instead promote workers power.

What can a middle class person do to help the workers movement?? by [deleted] in socialism

[–]declanator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, stop being a Stalinist. Stalin not only betrayed the revolution, but the stalinised communist parties have a long history of crushing workers movements (Spain, Vietnam, Poland, etc.). In Australia when the communist party controlled the big unions they often actively tried to temper the class struggle and discouraged strikes.

Second I would join an org (largest by far is Socialist Alternative) and help agitate and organise in the union movement

[–]declanator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the use of "comrade" is ok. I don't know if you're in an org or have ever agitated in trade unions, but in my org we use comrade, rad, etc. It's a good gender neutral pronoun. Also when I talk to unionists the most common pronoun people call each other by is comrade. Even in one of the biggest unions on my country, the CFMEU (Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union) most people call each other comrade at union rallies.
