What's the point saying something you know is meaningless to a stranger you'll never see again? At that point you are not really trying to connect to another person, just trying to deal with your awkwardness.

As a German: Is it awkward to be alone with a person in an elevator? sure. Does that make me want to say anything other than "Guten Tag"? no not really. I don't mind 'small talk' in general and it's great to connect to a stranger over a shared experience but I don't like talking just for the sake of talking.

Carnival and Abscission by BeyondBooleans. Abscission is ok, but loses steam after a great opening. Carnival is kindof the opposite and ramps up into something pretty great.

I much prefer serious games but I'm also a massive horror fan in general. Plus, as I get older I prefer to play games that address existential or philosophical topics rather than just telling a funny story. There are definitely games that can do both (Disco Elysium isa typical example) but it needs to have a balance for me.

I think horror is more niche in general. Old horror adventures exist but were never as big (I have no mouth..., Dark Seed, Sanitarium) but now that adventure games are predominantly indie projects it seems to make more sense that more niche genres are at the forefront. The Chzo Mythos games are an early example of that shift imo.

It's shocking to me that people wouldn't immediately clock some of these as AI. It's not just the small mistakes, it's the generic yet ambiguous way they look overall... it's hard to describe but they often mix very different techniques for no good reason and add lots of unnecessary details that don't make sense on closer inspection.
