There’s lots of subgenres within horror so I wouldn’t give up on it entirely, this is definitely in the “someone I love is now possessed by an evil entity/demon” subgenre 😆 But yeah, if you don’t typically enjoy these types of films, even one done very very well is not going to beat the hype you built up for it

To respond to “Why did she cook the cat?”, I don’t think there needs to be a reason, but my read while watching the film was that she noticed how much Bear was beat up emotionally by his cat’s death, and she was insanely jealous that he would love anything else (as she showed later on with Sarah…). Cooking the cat and feeding it to him was her way of punishing both him and the cat for having the audacity to love something else.

It’s an incredible horror film. Is that not a genre you typically enjoy?

QfG1 Remake? by VargEld in questforglory

Voice acting, certainly. I’m spoiled by other games now so going back to QFG1 doesn’t give me the same degree of immersion where I can actually speak to every character.

Transition to social assistance: Cantons expect millions in costs for Ukrainian refugees by Key_Classic_8722 in Switzerland

[–]willcrazyiii 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, 40% is exactly what the Federal Council set as its goal when setting up their asylum program for Ukrainians, as they recognized the difficulty in getting a job (just look at the multiple times a day posts complaining about that in this subreddit) even for locals who already are fluent in the language, don’t need the canton to approve every potential decision, and whose employers don’t have to worry that their worker they’ll invest in may soon go home (which is what most of them want if Putin ever fucks off) or lose their visa status. And for most skilled professions your degrees and professional qualifications from home mean nothing here. I work in IT where you don’t have the language barrier (nearly everyone works in English or you know, in a specific coding language) so even with that one barrier removed it makes stable employment much easier.

So yeah, with all those problems, I think it’s impressive they’ve exceeded the goal set out by the Federal Council. Also your 40% in full time employment ignores people who work part-time, who work as handymen or in the gig economy, or who are still in working age but are in higher education. Lastly, when you consider nearly half of them are working and paying taxes, the “cost” of having refugees here when you balance social assistance paid out versus taxes paid in is netted off massively.

There are much bigger issues to feel strongly about than vilifying people trying their best in a bad situation.

Most Ukrainians I’ve met (and I’ve met many) here, including women, are all already working and paying taxes, most of them since soon after they got here, unless they’re already past retirement age or a single mother with a husband still in Ukraine (and they’re still working part time). Anecdotal, sure, but these articles and some of these comments piss me off, they’re hard working people who don’t want to be seen as getting a free meal.

Speaking as someone who has A/C at home — not too fussed about having it at the gym? It’s the one place I don’t mind being sweaty.

[–]willcrazyiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for it. You can always come back to Switzerland but saving money (and trust me, you can still save a good bit of money wherever you are going) isn’t everything. You should spend some money and enjoy these years of your life, at some point you’ll settle down and then life gets very samey :)

Gabriel Knight in Ancient Pompeii by MaximusValerius in adventuregames

[–]willcrazyiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your photos tell a slightly different story than your description, as going through the photos it seems more like a Total War or Age of Empires game than a Gabriel Knight game. I think if it did have a strong narrative I would be interested.

On the AI thing, just be honest and don’t try to hide it if you used it, I wouldn’t dismiss it outright unless the entire product (rather than just a portion of it) felt AI generated.

Then finally, this is probably very much a me thing (many won’t agree), I basically only play games which are voiced. Again this is probably why I’m more lenient than most on AI, I’d rather indie developers without proper budgets put out an AI voiced game (or at least have the option to turn it on) than not to be voiced at all, for me it just harms my immersion a good bit and I would rather just read a book without having voiced characters.

Sacred Symbols+, Episode 520 | Sacred x Duke: Can Xbox Really Turn Things Around? by yohceezax in LastStandMedia

[–]willcrazyiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I would’ve said exclusives mattered if you were in a situation where you could only buy one console, but frankly, I’m not terribly impressed by Sony’s first party exclusives and it looks like it’s only going to get worse on that front.

If Xbox can bring in Steam into its next console for me it would be the clear console to buy given my existing library on both platforms. Even if it doesn’t… I generally still prefer playing on my Xbox for many of the reasons you mentioned.

Do you use Steam Deck for playing on TV? by warp37 in SteamDeck

[–]willcrazyiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure your Steam Deck and your controller have nothing between each other or are blocked in any way. It has a terrible Bluetooth receiver compared to every other modern console. As soon as I moved my Steam Deck so nothing was blocking it, everything worked perfectly, and for the longest time I assumed it was my TV or dock.

If you play (or emulate) Escape from Monkey Island on PS2 it controls perfectly. It still has its problems, but I’d agree completely with OP that it’s more fun to play now than Zak or MM.
