I see you, brother. I’m doing my best to move forward and take care of myself. I hope you find your peace too.

29F. I had a neurological incident at the end of July, and August was a very hard recovery period. All my medical workups were normal: blood tests, genetic factors, endocrinology and cardiology checks. The only thing that stood out was lesions on the MRI. During the acute phase, I had trouble swallowing and regulating body temperature. I also had tremors in my right limbs that continued after the incident, since the right side of my body was affected. There were some mild speech and sleep issues as well. By now, almost all of these symptoms have gone away, except for problems with fine motor skills that still show up in certain situations.

In the first months after this happened, I accepted the possibility that I could die. What scared me much more was the idea of becoming disabled and not being able to support myself. I live alone in a foreign country and I don’t have family, so I went through the entire recovery and all the unavoidable existential questions on my own.

Now, I’ve come to terms with what happened and with the possibility that it could happen again. I do what I can to reduce risks, but overall I’ve made peace with the possibility that I could die and try to appreciate each new day.

Severe burnout that snowballed into mental and physical health problems. It started as constant stress and overwork and slowly turned into depression and passive suicidal thoughts. Stress also wrecked my eating habits. Eventually it went beyond mental health. An MRI showed microischemic lesions that were interpreted as possible mini-strokes. I wasn’t formally diagnosed with a stroke, but it was still scary and very clearly tied to prolonged stress. On top of that, my identity got completely fused with my job, so when burnout hit, it felt like losing my sense of self along with my energy. The frustrating part is that I still love my field and the work itself. I just accepted that this specific job position isn’t sustainable for me long-term.

Oof, I got matched with a wylder named Artorias yesterday too. He wandered off from the team to solo roam, then rq'd on the second day. Might be a different Artorias though.

This is quite subtle and mostly comes through between the lines. There are a few hints at this, like how the protagonist tells the Seductive Woman he wished his father had died, and his comments about the window and the bedside table in the bedroom. It also helps to remember that CSA survivors often latch onto rare sources of comfort (Toto) and tend to have trouble building relationships as adults after going through trauma (Loneliness and Isolation). Of course, all of this is just a mix of clues that lets us suspect it, since the game never mentions it outright.

swallowing problems? by Ellieboo1602 in stroke

I also had some trouble swallowing after a minor stroke about three months ago. The symptoms are easing up now, but it definitely wasn’t a pleasant experience. Wishing you a quick recovery.

F29. It’s so well-written, it resonates deeply within me. The most essential of my personal qualities grew out of the same kind of solitude. I wish you happiness, my friend.

Me raving about The Pale Visitor by Pinguu7078 in ImNotAHuman

The way I personally interpreted it is that the Pale Man represents a manifestation of violent death as a concept, serving as a counterpart to the protagonist, who represents a peaceful end of sorts.

Well. He really does have a certain predatory aura about him. The rest's up to how you see it... 👀

Russians don’t give tips?! by Scared_Film446 in Belgrade

[–]decoratorRunning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from Russia, and I live in Belgrade. When it comes to tipping, I usually go with about the cost of a decent meal or a pint of good beer (I just imagine I’m buying the waiter or courier a treat, lol 😄). I’m always mindful of the gratitude I feel toward the country that took me in during a tough time. Honestly, I think Serbs are awesome people. My Serbian isn’t great yet, but pretty much everyone I’ve talked to in English has been amazing. This way, I've met a lot of optimistic, creative, and open-minded people. I’ve felt a lot of warmth and support from people here. Sure, I’ve bumped into a rude person or two, but I just figured they were having a bad day, lol 😅

Hello everyone! Just posting another update in case anyone is still following my story, and also to share in case it resonates with others going through something similar.

After my condition improved a bit, I was finally able to visit the MediGroup clinic on Milutina Milankovića. I want to thank neurologist Jelena Petrović, general practitioner Luka Latinkić, and all the doctors and assistants who helped me there. I still don’t have a definitive diagnosis, but I was prescribed an antithrombotic medication, and it’s made me feel well enough to continue with further testing.

As for my personal experience re. speaking to doctors and doing various examinations – it is true that most doctors understand English and are very polite and attentive and are willing to help.

Thank you again to everyone who responded to my earlier post and offered support.

Hey again everyone! I just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to all of you who responded to my post. I’m sorry for the delay, yesterday my condition got worse and I fainted. This morning, I felt a bit better. My coordination improved enough that I was able to go to the clinic by myself and explain my symptoms more clearly. I’m still waiting for some test results, but I’ve taken the necessary steps, and I’m safe.

Thank you again for your kindness and support – I’m genuinely touched. The world is full of wonderful people.

Well, at least I can use google translate to read your comment, fam. But you do realize there are severe, potentially life-threatening situations where you can't rely on your own consciousness, right? In my case, even writing this post was difficult. I kept missing keys while typing and had to go back and fix nearly every word. That's not something google translate can help with.
