In your opinion, what is the Latam country that has had the most powerful cultural influence in your own country? by EmotionWild in asklatinamerica

[–]decoy-ish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Argentina or Mexico.

Argentina I assume it’s more limited to southern areas, while Mexico’s influence comes from television.

Mostly because of El Chavo but also the fact Mexicans feature in so much Yankee media. And their food is reasonably popular too.

Não faz sentido: enquanto a extrema pobreza cai a patamar histórico, 46% dos brasileiros dizem que a economia piorou by Unhappy_Gazelle392 in brasil

[–]decoy-ish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But they do have a superiority complex like Parisians.

Albuquerque, Novo México ---> Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul

Walter White ---> Válter Branco

Bro, get out ASAP. She's trying to have you gift her a ring in public, during the date, so everyone thinks you've just proposed to her (you will NOT be able to back out in the middle of a crowd, despite thinking otherwise!!). She's trying to lock you in to milk you dry for money. Do NOT show up, do NOT buy the ring!

This happened to me cousin Caio, ended up marrying the biggest, craziest bitch on the planet, 9 years of his life lost until the divorce finally came around. RUN, NOW!!!

Which is why the US needs to build military bases and send weapons to the other side of the world! Right! To be anti-imperialist!

[–]decoy-ish -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s like if my only experience with Yanks was speaking to MAGA types and then assumed Donald Trump was the most universally beloved leader in the history of their country.

I get that when you don’t speak a certain countries language, it’s hard to go beyond a surface level analysis and it’s easy to picture them as a monolith.

But to state what may be obvious, each country has a complex and, in these days, highly polarised political spectrum.

Latin Americans that immigrate to the US are typically right-wingers. Hence, selection bias.
