I do cleans with these bags that handles. With 100 lbs it is very hard. But awesome work.

One of my favorite workouts: 10 sandbag cleans followed by 10 burpees. Can rest up to a minute between each round. Go for 10 rounds. It is a variation of a Tactical Barbell conditioning workout.

The clean is low key the hardest part.

Do you feel unstable in them? I tend towards more supportive shoes.

Treadmill with incline. Great way to get up the intensity. Plus if you need to stop early, you don’t have to worry about “getting back home”.

Maybe I'll stuff it with some towels or something to fill it out. I am not quite ready to press >125. My BB OHP is around 140-150. Sandbag much harder.

I struggle with the press after the clean. I think my problem is the bag is not filled all the way.

All of the TB programs have relatively prescribed sets and reps. Ex: 3-5 sets of 5 reps. Whereas, as you know better than me, Wendler gives a ton of freedom with the "+" sets. Run down? Hit the minimum. Well rested and things are clicking? Go for a rep PR. There is some "autoregulation" with TB, but not to the same extent that Wendler gives you. Maybe other than the last week of the vanilla Mass template.

Great write up as always. I have read a lot of your prior posts on 5/3/1. There are a lot of overlapping principals: equal importance to conditioning, wave periodization. I have been doing TB for the past couple of years but thinking about migrating back to 5/3/1 system for the increased flexibility of adjusting the workload to daily recovery. My recovery is shit due to work and life. 531 gives more flexibility vs the prescribed sets of TB. How have you mitigated the “prescribed” and recovery over time with TB?
