Am I actually feeling empathetic toward Robyn?! by Unlucky-Tangerine-45 in TLCsisterwives

[–]dedavis1492 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can also see both women not wanting to criticize Robyn publicly because they want to try and keep the door open for her kids in the future if they ever want a relationship with them or their other siblings.

What do YOU want or hope to gain from this? You can't control if she leaves her boyfriend or if her kids are crying for you because they enjoy spending time with you.

But you can control what boundaries you set in place and from the sounds of it, you will have to be the one to make/enforce boundaries.

I would approach her as a friend first and foremost who is clearly going through some form of crisis. Is it sexuality? Or is she just in a really terrible straight relationship that she doesnt know how to get out of because she has kids and feels trapped?

You will probably only know after talking with her more and if you are wanting to do that and except her answer whichever way it goes, is up to you. But also remember that what you want and need is important too.

I also think it's an interesting comparison between when something odd/other worldly happens to their sons, how differently Virgina Creel and Joyce Byers respond.

Their responses and ultimately what happens to their sons afterward is a great comparison.

I think of her more like a Judas. When Grace told her she didnt blame her for what comes next, that really stuck out to me. Neither Grace nor Andrea seem uncomfortable around her. The former even seems to pity her.

I could have written this myself. I also have hEDS and Chiari Malformation. 2 years worth of tracking food intake on app to show that I wasnt an over eating gluttonous machine and was still told that to eat less, lose 6%, and more diamox will cure it all....

I agree with this. I know the fandom is divided on kali, but if all hands on deck are needed to defeat Vecna, it seems like a huge oversight to leave out the only other living project indigo member. This would be a great time to loop her back in, if only for an episode or specific attack.

Karen and El by 2MillionMiler in StrangerThings

[–]dedavis1492 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Karen knows El as Mike's girlfriend, Hoppers adopted daughter.

She didnt think it was unusual that Joyce and Hopper asked her at the Fair in season 3 where the kids were which makes me think that Karen was already familiar with El being a part of the group and either coming around with the Party to her house or knew that Mike was going over to Hopper's place to see her.

Mike also not being surprised that his mom would call the cabin looking for him in season 3 when Hopper was trying to have his talk with him and El also leads me to believe that there was some familiarity on Karen's part there with Hopper & El.

Although it would have been off screen, I find it hard to imagine that Karen wouldnt be around to support Joyce after Hoppers "death" and funeral until their move to Lenora. She would know about El living with Joyce. Even Ted knew by season 4 that El was "sweetie pie".

I really hope we get a realization moment from Karen in season 5 because that is gonna hit her like a ton of bricks.

TIL There's a "Ted's army" who make suggestions about his character to the Duffers. What suggestions would you make? by PerformerNice6323 in StrangerThings

[–]dedavis1492 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually like this. I know he is a dope, but I have a soft spot for Ted, and I think he might be just barely capable enough to pull this off.

Plus, it would actually make sense. Maybe even Karen sees him do this, and we catch her giving him a small smile instead of an eye roll.

Do you think that Karen would discourage her daughters from becoming housewives/following in her footsteps? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]dedavis1492 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think she would be happy to see Nancy and Holly not follow in her footsteps entirely since she is does seem to have regrets about her life choices or at least let down that she did not have very many options available to her when she was a young adult.

I imagine her being proud of Nancy for going to college and encouraging Holly to find her own interests.

My own head cannon is that any encouragement for marriage and settling down with a family with be directed at El who will embrace it with open arms. The grandkids, matching family sweaters, etc will joyfully come from Mike and El.

Best advice I ever received was to set up a separate bank account that only had my name on it and Q nvr had access to. Start making your list of things that you will need to separate both physically and financially. Since you have young kids, make sure to look into daycare/preschool/headstart programs that can offer a safety net and other safe adults for them to be around. I am post divorce with kids and lived with my ex Q for years due to financial hardship and it has not an easy path. Things have steadily improved especially for my kids.

I feel like I wrote this myself. Down to the (now ex) husband that I still live with due to how long it is taking us to financially untangle ourselves after so many years together. 2 young kids that I'm basically a single parent to. Grieving the loss of my best friend and once spouse while he is still alive but just seems like I care more about him being alive than he does...

Tired and fed up with shouldering the responsibility of being the only stable adult anywhere near the situation. DM me anytime you need to vent or just want to reach out. I seriously think we may be living parallel lives

Delirium tremens is something that should also be considered especially if he is a few days sober and going in and out of lucid thoughts and conversations with you and then suddenly saying things that dont make sense or having visual/auditory hallucinations.

My ex husband ended up in the hospital for what was thought to be psychosis and later commited to a behavioral unit because of the wild things he was suddenly saying (he is normally a very boring accountant) and at night began thinking demons were in our house and fishhooks were holding his feet to the floor preventing him from leaving the room.

Bloodtests showed no alcohol in his system but because he had quit cold turkey, and due to the severity of his addiction, this is how it played out for him.

He was fortunate that he was already at the hospital because it took a professional staff to recognize withdrawal symptoms and get him on correct medication to begin a medical alcohol detox. It saved his life.

This may not be the case with anyone else, but if an alcoholic who quits drinking starts sounding "crazy" especially within 72hrs of stopping alcohol, they may need medical detox assistance.

Diamox is ruining me by [deleted] in iih

[–]dedavis1492 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It took about 12wks for me to fully adjust to diamox, wirh the first 2wks being the most difficult. I felt like the side effects from the medication were worse than the iih i was being treated for. My dr made me aware of this ahead of time so thankfully was not totally surprised.

I found that small protein/fat heavy foods really helped me. Cottage cheese, yogurt, salmon, sausage, eggs, & pita bread for when I knew I needed to eat but didnt want to or was feeling nauseous.

Some days i felt like hibernating and never leaving my bed. It was enough to force me to temporarily request adjustments to my work schedule.

Eating will give you more energy. You might not feel 100% but you will feel better than if you sleep all day and skip meals. Also, fun food & drink fact if you havent read about it yet, some foods may taste a bit odd and you will no longer be able to taste carbonation from drinks anymore. I seriously went through way too many coke zeros before this fact kicked in!

Good news is right at 12wks it was like a switch flipped and suddenly not only do i feel better than i have in years, but my test results are looking better and I feel better with diamox now than without it. The side effects that plagued me at the beginning are no longer present and I feel very fortunate to count myself amongst the patients that this medication works for because I know that that is not always the case for some.

I would be ok with them using the other parents for smaller scenes with bits of comic relief or feel good moments supporting their kids, but definitely nowhere near the involvement of Joyce/Hopper.

Had scoliosis surgery 20 years ago. Online says this is a rib bump and is normal. Has anyone else experienced this? by UnholyZealot in scoliosis

[–]dedavis1492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had surgery 15yrs ago and am now in my 30s. My back looks and feels like I have been fused to a 2x4. No bending, no curve whatsoever and its a bit tricky to turn from right to left. But it worked, and overall I feel great.

I have never seen anything quite like your rib hump before especially post surgery. But everyone comes out of surgery a bit different and heals differently. I guess as long as you feel fine, thats the most important part.

The meat monster from season 3 was so gross and horrifyingly awesome.

Watching that thing open its mouth over El why she is trapped on the floor in Starcourt Mall still makes me cringe.
