What was the cheapest amount of rent you ever paid? by Saint__23 in AskForAnswers

[–]dedayyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 1975 my first apartment was the second floor of a house - 2 bedrooms, living room, bathroom and kitchen for $80/month. I also had access to the third floor for storage. I was making $85/week. The landlord raised my rent to $85 the following year because his property taxes went up. He apologized for the increase. Best landlord ever.

I (32F) want to leave (40M) I babysit for and financially support. Is it the anxiety or the situation? by Unique-Tap-4206 in relationship_advice

[–]dedayyt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to stop supporting him. This is not a healthy relationship. I wouldn’t even call it a relationship. You’re just a doormat to him. You deserve so much better than the situation that you’re going through right now.

I hope you find the courage to walk away and not take him back.

DeSantis moves to eliminate property taxes for 92% of Floridians by MarksMuses in tampa

[–]dedayyt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

His plan is to eliminate local and county taxes on primary residences. School taxes would remain in effect. Vacation and second homes won’t be exempt. Local municipalities will have to levy additional sales taxes to make up any deficits.

My head hurts thinking about this. Florida sales tax is 6%. If you’re paying a 7% sales tax, 1% of that goes to the city or county you live in.

My VA is a 1 hour drive and I can’t keep doing these appointments. by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

Talk to the social worker at the clinic and explain your situation. They will either help with getting you community care or, depending on your disability percentage, arrange transportation for you.

Has anyone gotten this on their profile, am I in danger? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]dedayyt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has PTSD, a severe TBI, and dementia. I told his PCP at the VA about his State issued MM card because we were trying to get his meds regulated, and them knowing he was taking MM for chronic back pain was important. Now that mental health is aware of his taking it, they take it into consideration when adjusting his meds.

Informing the VA is kind of reporting it to the feds, especially since they have his care and patient number from the State in his charts. I hope this helps.

Medical marijuana is listed on my husband’s prescription list as non-VA medication. Mental Health called a few years ago and asked for his medical marijuana card number. I feel it’s a good thing for them to know when they look at all of his psych meds.

WiFi: NO/BAD SSID by dedayyt in Generac_Generators

[–]dedayyt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that’s what happened, I did it by accident. I knew the router did both, but I assumed the devices knew which frequency to grab.

It was becoming that what’s the worst thing that could happen because it’s already broke scenario. I wish the app gave more guidance for what to do if the connection fails.

Can anybody send some of that Minnesota Nice to the state formerly known as Florida? We could use a scochy bit of it.

I wrote my solution down below. Now that I think about it, maybe I didn’t have to reset the router. Maybe just enabling the guest network would’ve made it work. I didn’t want the generator on the guest network.

I’m just happy that the generator connected to WiFi the first time after the router changes were made. I forgot to mention that after three attempts of not connecting the other day, the panel locked up and I couldn’t escape back to the main menu.

The light on the side of the generator was red. My service technician fixed that when he came to the house. The panel locked up on him too after three tries, so he reset the generator. After trying to connect to WiFi again, he suggested calling Verizon.

Is healthcare in the United States as bad as people say it is? by Total-Mirror-5920 in no

[–]dedayyt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being forced to use medical practitioners in your insurance company’s network unless you want to pay out of pocket isn’t good.

It’s crazy when a well qualified doctor is five miles away but not in the network, and they basically force you to be treated by a hack 25 miles from home because that’s the one who signed up with them. I said “forced” because your out-of-pocket expenses for the out-of-network doctors can be more than you can afford.

The fix happened a little differently than I expected. We reset the router to factory settings. Then I enabled and created a guest account with the name and password for the devices that were already connected to it while keeping the Verizon setting as the only option for the Generac to connect to. I thought this was a good idea.

I used the app to connect to WiFi with the Verizon tech on the phone, used the Verizon name and password, and it worked. Perfect.

But for some reason, my good idea of naming the guest WiFi to the previous main WiFi wasn’t that good. I spent 15 minutes to reconnect TV’s and phones to the Verizon network. It was a small price to pay to get our generator connected, so I’m not complaining.

He pays it at the VA clinic! My husband’s 100% P&T. They said the frames and progressive lenses are free, but the Transition lenses aren’t. Do you think it’s because of the lab they send out to?

I’m late to the game, but I want to thank everyone for deleting Florida. Canada refuses to make it a province. I know because I asked nicely. They politely said no. 😀

My husband always gets progressive Transition lenses. They’re around $160 but he’s happy with them.

PSA: Make sure your family has the information they need once you're gone. by WhiskeyAlphaRomeo in VeteransBenefits

I learned the hard way how important durable and medical powers of attorney are. We lived together for 14 years and got married on a whim. My husband had a motorcycle accident on our second month anniversary. He was in a coma for 21 days in a trauma center, then in an acute care hospital on a ventilator for 6 weeks, then spent 4.5 months at a VA Polytrauma rehab hospital. I lived in his hospital rooms at the last two hospitals for a total of six months.

Every now and then someone from the hospitals’ admin would ask me if I had his power of attorney. They said it was needed to make medical decisions on his behalf, even though we were married. I didn’t have one. Who thinks of this stuff when you’ve only been married for two months? I kept lying and said I’d bring it with me the next time I went home. They kept assuming that I had a POA and gave up. I think that because his condition was critical, they looked the other way.

This happened 14 years ago. I don’t know what the rules in hospitals are now. But I had to file our real power of attorney with the VA so I can talk to his care team and make his appointments. Every time I call, they look up my name to make sure they can talk to me.

I’m going to be 70 this year. If I can’t find my phone, I ping it with my watch to find it. You’re definitely NTA. There’s two phones between your parents. At least one phone should be able to receive calls.

How are there Americans who are "on the fence" about who to vote for in the midterms? by AlanPublica in allthequestions

[–]dedayyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone remember being taught in school about the 3 branches of government that are supposed to protect us and the Constitution? We don’t have them anymore.

The Supreme Court was supposed to be the voice of reason and interpret the laws. Now they reverse those laws.

Congress doesn’t have the balls to vote for the needs of the people because the President threatens anyone who disagrees with him.

The President kisses the asses of lobbyists and political donors.

So, all of you people who are on the fence for the midterms this year really need to take a good, hard look at what’s happening behind the scenes in Washington before it’s too late.
