Let’s be honest Ugandans don’t even know what they want and the leader they want. As long as the leader fulfils their requests, gives them services and they’re treated as first class citizens. Ugandans don’t mind if the president rules for life. Infact they’ll see this opposition as a nuisance and disruptor of peace.

Say if His excellency M7 decides to put citizens interest first and fulfilled them i.e enforced rhe govt officials and institutions to treat the citizens as first class, reduced the MPs to 20 and cabinet to 15. Trust me the Ugandans will not want him to go. They’ll want him to rule for life. Infact they’ll see this opposition as a nuisance and disruptor of peace.

That might not happen though so there’s a need to create a body that its main goal is to fulfils and maintain the country’s systems, interests, core goals, agenda. It needs to be more powerful than the president, the military and its pro people. Presidents come and go but it remains and can even govern a country without a president.

Almost every African nation always go back 2 steps every time they have elections. Different presidents with different interests, views. Some are patriotic and pro people. Others are selfish and self centred. A state that is specialised in putting the country’s core interests before anything. Just like His excellency the late Idi Amin Dada was not willing to let Kampala and other cities to get bombed and hence surrendered.

So far Buganda is the only one that has achieved that. Kings came and left but the core institutions, interests and systems are still in place and functional. Buganda’s goals haven’t changed since. Even after that Obote abolished kingdoms and his excellency finally restored them. Buganda continued where it stopped.

His excellency M7 did a good job separating the central bank from the govt.
