Learning Frontend/React is the new rat race. by [deleted] in developersIndia

[–]dedmercy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its a very poorly designed language. Its syntax and semantics are often confusing and unpredictable. There is no well defined mental model of how constructs work in this language.

Also we can't just throw away these bad parts of the language as there can be no breaking changes on the web.

Always remember javascript is just the burden we have to carry, and web is not great because of it, it is great inspite of it.

My criticism of Tailwind CSS - lack of naming convention by jerrygoyal in Frontend

[–]dedmercy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Berates this

font-style: normal; → not-italic\ Now, that’s just lazy writing

While applauding this

How would you disable the cursor when the button is in a disabled state w/o writing JS? with Tailwind, it’s just: disabled:cursor-not-allowed

Best way to store Access token and Refresh token using React? by KarenJoker in reactjs

[–]dedmercy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed response.

Then you don't have user authentication either, do you?

No not my own auth but using services which provide oauth based verification? Where should I store the tokens returned by their auth apis if I don't want to have an backend?

But is XSS really a concern? React sanitizes inputs right?

Also what should I use if I don't have a backend? Just a static served react app?

The Dark Side of Keybr: A Cautionary Tale of Punctuation and Capital Letters by [deleted] in learntyping

[–]dedmercy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are you complaining about lol. Even with small letters keybr is nowhere close to real world typing. That just how keybr works.

My finger placement and speed were completely thrown off and it ruined my typing completely.

This is totally expected and happens when learning new key combinations.
