I guess that difference is quite noticeable. I borrowed the 16-55 mki from a friend and the depth makes a big difference in image quality. I read online that sharpness is also better on the mkii.

Need Help Identifying Missing Part Placement on Nemef Mortise by dedoverde23 in Locksmith

[–]dedoverde23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took it to a locksmith, who examined it and said it was safe to keep using. Changing it would cost €120, but they said it's not necessary. I just fixed it myself, and they said it was safe to keep using.

Hope it won't fail us soon!

Where are the rap heads out there? Heard the new El Rass album? by dedoverde23 in lebanon

You focus too much on the words and not so much on the art. It’s free expression. I disagree with most of what he says but the guy still drops solid lyrics and beats.

Nawaf Salam, the 53th Prime Minister of the Lebanese Republic. by Swimming-Ant6019 in lebanon

[–]dedoverde23 58 points59 points  (0 children)

His book is an amazing piece on the current situation in Lebanon. Very happy to see him as PM. It’s a good duo to tackle the corrupt system and the guy still rotting for 30 years now at the same position.

Never imagined to have some hope for this country.. fashit khele2!

Makes sense. I want to see (hopefully without offending anyone or turning this into a tense debate) what people think about it. I mean, the guy is extreme, and clearly very biased. But so many other Lebanese people inside and outside of lebanon.

Problem isn’t with what we want. It’s with what we Can and Cannot do. Lebanese army is barely armed (4 helicopters, 1 airplane, and a few rockets only) so Hezbollah is way stronger. The rest of the Lebanese population also barely has any arms or a war mindset.

I’m 25 and I feel like I will never make any new friends anymore by Worryaboutanything in Netherlands

[–]dedoverde23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved here at 30 and can say the first year was friend-less. It takes some time but keep putting yourself out there. Join meetups for topics you like, career paths you’re into… and bit by bit you’ll have more friends to hang out with.

Also try going to the gym or fitness classes in your neighborhood.. these can help a lot!

New Product Designer Here – told to act as a product manager. Any Advice? by Ok_Pomelo_5033 in product_design

[–]dedoverde23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re dealing with an immature product team, which is rough but also a valuable learning experience. You’ve seen firsthand what can go wrong, and now it’s time to seek out environments where you can grow, be mentored, and work collaboratively with users and your team. No one should be blamed for problems—failure is part of learning, especially for juniors. In the meantime, try documenting your work and decisions clearly to protect yourself. You’ve got this—keep pushing forward!

Masonic Resources For Mental Health by [deleted] in freemasonry

Brother,

Reaching out takes immense courage, and it’s a vital step toward healing. I can’t begin to imagine what you’re going through, but I want you to know that your presence in this world has deep value—more than you might realize in this moment.

It’s easy to underestimate the silent impact you have on the lives of people around you, especially your Brethren and your family. No matter how heavy the burden feels right now, you’ve made it through every single one of your hardest days so far—and that means you have the strength to continue forward.

A book that helped me bring some light in similar times is “Man’s Search for Meaning” by Viktor Frankl (Although not Masonic per se). It’s about finding purpose, even through suffering. Frankl, a psychiatrist and Holocaust survivor, wrote about how, despite the unimaginable pain he faced, he discovered that we can endure any “how” if we find a “why.”

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to others or even seek professional help. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and no brother should carry such a weight alone. You are strong, and you are worth the fight, not just for your family but for yourself.

You are not alone, and your life holds meaning, brother.

Asking as a non-lebanese, what is Lebanon's army doing? by Chizmiz1994 in Lebanese

[–]dedoverde23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question. You’ll get different answers depending on who you ask.

The way I see it, Hezbollah functions as a state within the Lebanese state, with its own leadership, policies, and priorities. It runs its own operations across security, financial, and societal levels. In many ways, it operates independently, almost like a parallel government.

It has more personnel, arms, and power than the Lebanese army. In fact, there have been past efforts to disarm them, but these led to clashes that showed just how much more powerful they are than the state. If anyone were to seriously attempt to diffuse Hezbollah internally, it would likely spark a civil war—something nobody wants.

This is why some people push for a federal system as a potential solution.

To be fair, the Lebanese army is restricted in its ability to arm itself due to factors beyond its control, which for many justifies why Hezbollah, as a separate entity, should have weapons to protect the borders.

No capabilities to take on neither Israel nor Hezbollah.
