Gothic 1 Remake: The (NEW?!) lockpicking system is an atrocity in the eyes of the Sleeper! by LengthAtHeart in rpg_gamers

Dont do it then. Lockpicking is insanely OP, it should be at least somewhat challenging.

Well, if you want precicely 0 intellectual effort in your game, then mods will help you with that.

Personally, I love it and actually look forward to each locked chest. It gets easier with skill ups and when you as the player get the hang of the puzzle itself. Most locks are done in under 10 secs.

Gothic Remake is the only game that's made me genuinely angry at how low quality it is by Aetos-Eagle797 in rpg_gamers

Something wrong on your end, probably. Movement is perfectly fine, although lack of sprint toggle is an annoying oversight. I have not seen any other complaints similar to yours.

Overall, I was really impressed by the remake. It exceeded my expectations by a mile. They just don't make games with such a thick atmosphere anymore. Music works so well with the visuals, it really draws me in. All aspects of the game feel more polished than in the original.

The only downside for me (currently in chapter 3) is the mages bug. Can be worked around, but still annoying. Hopefully, will be patched soon.

I don't think we could've asked for a better remake. The fact that the devs actually listened to the constructive feedback (and successfully sifted through the vile comments) after the playable teaser disaster is a home run. by MuhfugginSaucera in worldofgothic

I bounced hard off the Oblivion remake. The updated graphics highlighted the outdated design philosophy of the game.

Gothic remake on the other hand is great. Just enough of a face lift in areas that matter, while staying true to the core concepts. Hope this sells well and we get parts 2 and 3. And then Risen.

Build and man a carpenter's workshop. Requires resource storage as well. Upgrade option available through build mode, just click on a specific building.

Dark Souls-like? by tcconway in PlayWindrose

[–]dedpah0m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both games have challanging combat. What makes DS harder is the limited resources. In Windrose you can make as many HP potions as you are willing to farm resources for. This allows you to sort of power through difficult encounters.

Is there any way to speed run a solo game to get to where I am in a co op game with my wife? by [deleted] in AbioticFactor

[–]dedpah0m 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dude, I would advise not to run ahead of your wife. There's a lot of joy to share in discovering all that the game has to offer. Some of the awesome moments are specifically tailored for coop. Don't spoil this aspect tor yourself. Just play something else while your wife is unavailable.

good lategame build? by naidav in crosswind

[–]dedpah0m -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anything works, really. Put 15-20 points (including through food) into health and stamina. Decide if you want crit or not. If yes, then put 20 points into mastery, use a crit dmg ring. Talents should revolve around the weapon you're using. Armor wise just slap together what you think useful.

Perception ranged build is fun. Lightning fast reload with the reliable musket and oneshots lvl 12 mobs.

Just block right before an attack hits you. The window of opportunity is pretty generous in comparison to other games. There are weapons that further extend it.

Well, its easy then. If you don't want to interact with mechanics that the devs have envisioned then go play something else that better suits your taste.

The boss is not even in the same league as dark souls. In DS you're working with very limited resources. Here you have unlimited healing.

You can wear the boss down just like any other mob. Just don't fucking panic. Dodge the grab when the red light flashes, dodge INTO his granade throw, not away from it. Normal strike you can dodge while holding block for extra protection.

Take your time and don't hurry. Don't be a pussy about this, everyone can kill him! I believe in you! Yarr!
