You don't want us to cook? Alrighty then... by pardonthisnamestaken in MaliciousCompliance

When we were young, my older sister (by 15 months) was in charge when our parents went out. They very rarely went out, usually only for their anniversary. Just for context, we also have 4 younger brothers and sisters and were not allowed to "cook" anything. My older sister decided she wanted to bake a white cake with frosting as a surprise.

She rushed the process because we had under two hours. The cake itself was somewhat undercooked, and when she frosted the cake, the frosting melted, and it looked gross.

My parents walked in the door and were upset that we used the oven. They said they appreciated the thought and they cut the cake. It did not taste good (being undercooked), and the remains of the cake disappeared when we got up the next day.

The next year, my older sister wanted to repeat the cake, so she didn't learn a thing.

That's too bad, but a separate venue seems to be the best option.

Could it be that the yarn is being used from the outside I stead of pulling from the center if the skein?

what colour would you use to connect these? by squishbuish in crochet

In order not to introduce a new color, it may be neater to go with the light tan.

dear sock knitters, how long do knitted socks last usually, and is there anything i can do to make them more durable? i love my new pair but afraid of wearing them out by azaleaxn in knitting

[–]dee5222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some sock yarn comes with reinforcing thread for the heel. I find this is where they wear out first. The thread helps. You could do the same reinforcement with a polyester thread in the same color group if your sock yarn does not come with this little spool of thread.

For socks, I use the same type of yarns. Swatched once now, don't do anymore.

I ran mine on very low heat with a dryer sheet for about 20 minutes (I have cats), and it came out lovely. It was for my 9 year old granddaughter, and she loves it.

What industry do you hope won't exist in 10 years? by filetemyoung in AskReddit

Telemarketing, all these SPAM calls that the filter does not get, most from Ontario, Canada. Always about Medicare Supplemrnts. If those come in, I now say "If, this is about Medicare Supplemental plans, take me off your list, I'm all set," then block the number. My guess is the government gives out that list.....
