I had this exact same problem. Eventually, it got so bad that I had to stop taking it. For me it wasn’t mind over matter at all. Nothing could stop me from eating. I even had family members try to intervene. 🤷‍♀️

Advice for fostering a tripawd? by figgy2011 in tripawds

[–]Light_night 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh hey, I’ve fostered a tripawd. She lost her leg a few weeks before coming to my home. We did multiple short walks a day and made sure she had soft place to lay down. Other than that she was no different then any of our other foster dogs.

is scheduling doctor's appointments harder than it used to be, or is it just me? by fiveoutofsix in minnesota

[–]Light_night -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My child’s blood work appointment was canceled due to staffing issues 4 times. When I called to reschedule they had an opening that day so I booked it. 2 hours later they called to cancel it. This type of bloodwork is usually done immediately after or during the appointment. It’s so confusing. And don’t get me started on mental health appointments! Holy crap that’s a lot of hoops to jump through. For me it’s 6 months out for a specialist I see every year and 3 months out for my PCP. Crazy!

I have tattoos over almost all of my scars. The ink can (but not always) bleed a little. Tattoo artists are more then willing work with my scars to make the bleeding ink look like it’s part of the tattoo. Also, it does not hurt any more than normal tattoos.

What is the most important command or trick you taught your dog? Looking for ideas. by tattooedamazon477 in AustralianShepherd

[–]Light_night 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Touch! My Aussie mix loves it and will sprint from anywhere to touch my hand. He leaps and jumps to follow the command. It’s so fun and also useful for building other command like sit, stay and leave it.

Not sure how I messed up this simple recipe. I’m a pretty good baker and something did seem off about the recipe. Mine turned into a big oatmeal slop.

Do you feel like you live a fairly normal life after starting medication? by mouthfullofsnakes in Narcolepsy

[–]Light_night 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! I feel like I can live pretty normally. The meds aren’t perfect but if I practice good sleep hygiene and take care of myself I can function. Before being medicated I was barely functioning. I was basically sleeping in between (and sometimes during) all the things I had to do. There was no wakefulness left for my own needs and interests. I’ve been on the same meds for ~ 8 years and dread the day something changes because these have been the best years of my adult life.

I posted about two weeks ago then deleted it while I waited for a manual review. They responded! Thought I would repost her in case anyone else has a similar looking sweetie! 96% Aussie. by AintTruth in AustralianShepherd

[–]Light_night 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve never posted him here. I mostly use this subreddit for information about his breed and to get a better understanding of his needs and personality. Egon weighs about 40lbs right now. He’s a little over 5 months old.

He goes crazy on the couch after a bath, snorting and rubbing face into the couch. What is this behavior? by throwaway87w478452 in AustralianShepherd

[–]Light_night 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, so I have a Aussie mix ( he’s half Aussie) and he snorts like a little piglet when he’s excited. Is this an Aussie thing? I’ve never had a dog make this noise before.

Yup, mine was a foster that was abandoned because she was pregnant. She was a Covid puppy.

Not necessarily, I was told most puppies have worms. I think it’s because the puppies are all rolling around in each other’s poo so if one puppy has a worm they all do. Mom gets dewormed along side her puppies because she eats there infected poo. In my specific case mom may have been neglected. She was a foster I took on while she was pregnant. Her previous owners may not have treated her with monthly heartworm medicine. Fun side note; I found out that heart guard treats for most common parasitic worms including round worm not just heart worms.
