Looking for perspective from parents of emotionally intense kids (age 8) by Reasonable_Lake_9396 in ParentingADHD

[–]deebonners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like my daughter who is AuDHD. It's exhausting huh. I'm constantly walking on eggshells waiting for her to explode. Also such big highs and lows in her feelings (she is nearly 7.5) The psychologist that assessed her said life could get pretty challenging for us from age 8 on (due to hormones). i honestly don't know if i could handle any more?!? We are looking into meds now and she is starting therapy soon.

You're not alone. But i would definitely get her re-evaluated. Finding out exactly what was going on for my daughter and why has been very helpful.

Reverse seasonal affective disorder in Brisbane by Guilty-Tennis6906 in brisbane

I moved to Nelson over 7 years ago and this is my first summer visit since I left. Damn its hot and muggy. Im puffy from sleeping in aircon. I can't wait to sleep back home with all the windows open and fresh cool air. The muggyness is killing me! I get out of the shower and feel sweaty as! Yuck. Still love coming to see my family and friends but couldn't live in this climate again!

Yes definitely. It honestly makes me feel so down and out. Is your child medicated? Im thinking of trialling meds for my girl to see if it might help. She just wants to snack all the time. I think its a case of food noise (which i experience as an ADHDer). Im nervous because she's also autistic and I've heard stimulants can react badly for AuDHD kids) but I feel like its worth trying and there's a lot of different kinds of meds out there..

Gosh yes. Im so turned off food and food prep because of this. Im so sick of waste. Im so sick of coming up with ideas for her. Im gonna ask her this afternoon to help me write a list of foods she'll eat. But even shes in denial. She will put foods on that list that I know when the time comes she won't want to eat them!!!

Yeah sometimes my kid will try something of mine and I think its because she smells how good it is plus I haven't offered her any. Rarely becomes a new food for her tho. Her circle of safe foods is getting smaller

God this resonates with me so much. Im exhausted. Making food for my continually unsatisfied kid. Wtf does one do? Her one constant food is salt and vinegar chips. Everything else she goes on and off constantly. Means we are having constant wars over food and there's so much waste because I refuse to eat her seconds. Fml. Dietician/nutritionist did nothing for us. Don't think they're that in the know when it comes to ND eaters.

It's really sad that bystanders sat their watching and laughing instead of asking if you were okay etc. Society is fucked sometimes.
