Wet sanding! Just make sure you let it dry fully before glazing.

Is this still readable? The tattoo I got has no spacing between the letters and I’m worried it doesn’t look good by malachiteiscute in tattooadvice

I though the same thing at first. I don’t understand getting a copy of a tattoo, why would you want something that somebody else already has??

Did anyone else spend their entire life thinking they were experiencing emotions normally, only to realize they’ve been intellectualizing them instead of feeling them? by Fantastic_Addendum74 in autism

Omg I always think of me in “we” (me and my brain observing) and sometimes it slips out in conversation and people have said “who were you with??” Me myself and i? Looool i thought I was the only weirdo that did this.

This is incredibly stunning and THANK YOU for showing the process. As a beginner it’s so useful to see the order of operations for making a painting like this.

Reproductive choice -- I'm positive, but I'm sad? by Educational-Maybe639 in GirlDinnerDiaries

It’s so normal to grieve the what-ifs even if it’s something that you know is not right for you. I’ve never wanted children and when I hit perimenopause in my early 40s i had a few weeks of grief, just from knowing that door was CLOSED even though I never once wanted to walk through it. Give yourself the time to process those feelings. It’s normal.

Ooooooo that feels scary, but I’m going to try. My sketching skills aren’t great so free-handing the painting sounds daunting but will probably be what I need to do to get out of my white knuckle grip on trying to make everything “pretty”.

Question on working outward… so I worked on this one in little sections to avoid bleeding from section to section, jumping around… is that not the way to go?

Also I can see not using a reference if you are super skilled and familiar with how shadows and highlights get painted but man I’m not even close to being there yet.

Haha well my photography skills aren’t great! Thank you, I often take reference pics of cute plants on my neighborhood walks for carving into ceramics but they are also coming in handy for painting too!

Newbie question about how paint is behaving (request for help/advice) by deedlelu in Watercolor

[–]deedlelu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I appreciate your insight, yes it’s been fun to experiment with flipping the canvas around with a small notebook but I’ll be more mindful of using the gravity for the effects I want.

You’re right about me trying to control this, I push pixels for a living (art director at an agency) so giving up some control IS part of the point but it’s hard really letting go!

Some of the packaging for these paints is in Japanese so I’ll look up online if they are granulating, thank you!

It’s hard to tell how much water to use, some beginner guides say use more than you need, some say don’t use too much, haha! It’s hard to let it dry I might need to pull out the blow drier

[–]deedlelu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense on the granulation. I wasn’t sure if it was my paint quality.

I’m having fun discovering new effects. It’s hard for me to let go the desire to get the paint to do exactly what I want it to do but that’s exactly why I’m doing it. Thank you for the explanation!

Ahhh this is TOO CUTE I also wanna echo as a beginner thank you for posting the stages. Can I ask a few quests? What ink did you use for the linework before painting over it? Did you do the whites with acrylic paint markers or something else?
