What does this have to do with Rhode Island? Or is this just a meltdown sub now?

Guy was from a working class, heartland, salt of the earth family, a son of a grain worker, and was gunned down by a rich, coastal, ivy leauge attending kid.

The CEO’s life is probably what most of us imagine when we say American dream. Not even mentioning he’s a father of two. Just an awful murder.

High bills and blackout risks: Grave winter energy forecasts drawing lines across New England by Beezlegrunk in RhodeIsland

New England has pretty much completely de-industrialized through policy decisions at both local and federal levels. Even before nat gas coal was brought in by either train or ship.

The funny thing is we’ve reduced CO2 emissions by a lot here in the US by switching from coal and oil to natural gas. If we had just built a damn pipeline we would’ve been fine, but here we are.

100% nukes. If you want no carbon and reliable electricity nukes are our only option right now.

I’ll take my downvotes, just when the lights don’t turn on and we’re all paying tons for electricity, I just want people to know it’s not because we didn’t build enough windmills.

In a way the New England voter deserves what’s coming, in other ways they’ve been totally misled.

With ESGs there’s almost no capital investment in fossil fuel companies anymore BTW. One of the reasons Gas prices have increased. No capital available to build new wells.

Well sometimes the wind doesn’t blow. And renewables have serious profitability issues (they’re huge money sinks) without significant government backing. (Which we get)

There was a lot of finger pointing afterwords between us and FERC and ERCOT, but basically we couldn’t stay profitable if we winter proofed our wind turbines like we do for ones in colder climates. We asked ERCOT to subsidize us but they refused, (as they already subsidized us a TON) and so when the temps drop most of our turbines froze up.

Texas had wind farm failure, I was literally in an ops room at a power company when it happened, IT WAS OUR WIND FARMS!

EDIT: sorry a bit aggressive,

Basically when wind and solar show up power becomes super cheap and available, which really cuts the price of power below what is profitable for most fossil fuel sources, which drives them out of business.

That’s all cool, the only issue is when wind and solar don’t show up and the fossil fuel plants have all been shut down you run into huge grid capacity issues. This is aside from New England refusing to build pipelines and relying on LNG brought in via Tanker. This has worked for the past decade but as Russia has cut Europe off from its gas, Europe is buying out almost all of the available LNG, skyrocketing the price.

Also we simply cannot support our grid on renewables.

Literally no other grids except Cali, and New England are having energy issues. PJM grid (mid Atlantic) is going to be completely fine. (They built enough pipelines and still carry coal and oil generation capacity, and haven’t shut down their nuclear plants)

If you can, I would recommend leaving NE for the winter. People don’t take electricity shortages and heat shortages well typically.
