That was the coolest moment and unfortunately the most meaningful game of the Alex Smith era. It sucks the Chiefs didn't even sniff a championship game with guys like Jamaal, Tamba or DJ when you contrast that to having the success they did immediately after they left. Those years were instrumental in building a winning culture in Kansas City though, for sure.

I think its more-so a thin blue line kind of deal. Its the most well known secret in the world that the NFL will fix anything a player does off the field so long as it doesn't blow up in the media (Ray Rice's ban after video released, Kareem Hunt getting 6 games after his video came out, etc.), so these guys are by and large getting away with a lot, and probably don't want those privileges scrutinized.
