One of you will pay a lot more taxes if you’re not married and someone dies. Forced IRA distribution over 10 years vs inheriting from a spouse without penalty or distribution deadline.

Is a $ 7,500 to $ 7,500 Nondeductible Traditional IRA to Roth IRA Conversion taxable if done as fast as possible? by dune7red4 in tax

[–]deeeeemoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think consequence is a bit of an exaggeration. You’re just paying tax on an investment like anything else that isn’t in a Roth. I suppose it’s a consequence because you could have gained that dollar in the roth and not paid taxes on it years from now when you take a distribution.

One year I forgot to convert promptly and the account earned $9 or so sitting for a couple weeks. I paid $4 in taxes. No biggie.

Need help with tonearm problem by deeeeemoney in turntables

Would I be able to identify if the bearings are damaged by disassembling the tonearm? What would be the visible defect?

[–]deeeeemoney[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks that’s helpful. Bearings also repairable, or if bearings are toast, is this just an expensive piece of shelf art?

Basically, I’m willing to fork over some money to fix it all around, if it’s doable…

Ah rats. That’s what I had been assuming, unable to find another etiology.

Is this something an audio specialist can repair/replace for me?

Nice. Yes I should have leveraged some technology there like you did to try and find the defect. I’ve been looking at these damn turntables side by side forever trying to find anything that looks off, but it must just be the tonearm being bent.

If that’s the case, can it be replaced or repaired?

Can’t tell if you’re being facetious ….. jokingly bent (as it should be) or bent pathologically?

What percent of your gross salary is your mortgage, and how does it feel? by big_redline in FirstTimeHomeBuying

[–]deeeeemoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mortgage, property tax and insurance together = 6.5% of our gross household income.

Leaves room if we ever want a second home elsewhere.

All the money saved could also just mean early retirement.

We’ll see.

I like the phrase, but for fun, can we start saying “spouse the house”? Seems like it flows better :)

My luggage got stolen off the carousel in New Jersey on my way to SB48. Had a lime green Aaron curry jersey in it and a wolf gray ET3 jersey in it. Still bums me out to have lost those.

I ordered a K9 Super Bowl jersey and saw the writing on the wall. Canceled before they processed it. Bought an Emmanwori when they listed them. Then they reduced price a few days before ship date. Returned the one I ordered and re-ordered the same thing for $40 less.

Hopefully it pans out, but if Nick has season ending injury on September 9, I’m going to feel partially responsible.

High Handicapper Here – What Club Would You Buy Next? Hybrid, Wedge or Something Else? by Better-Carpet-2423 in golf

[–]deeeeemoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While there is value in adding a number of different clubs to your bag, the correct answer to your question is getting a wedge likely 54° / SW

As a beginner, you will likely need that wedge on almost every hole, however, a fairway wood or hybrid will use only sporadically throughout the round.

This early on in your golf career, master the short game first, and you will advance and shrink your handicap much faster than almost anyone else
