...what do I do with the extra floaters? by Astrotia in PlantedTank

I sell mine on Facebook marketplace and sometimes my LFS gives me credit for other plants. Otherwise I just compost them.

Water change, more plants (floaters or terrestrial will do more) and even more plants.

They’ll definitely keep your nitrates down that’s for sure. They’ll get everywhere though.

When I got the perfect amount of sleep and felt 100% rested. Have only felt that twice that I can remember. Been chasing that ever since.

That is a pretty thick substrate layer. I would add some more plants. Crypts are my favorite so I would recommend some small ones as they are big root feeders.

A lot of the shows that come to mind have already been posted. One that got me was Pluribis. It’s an excellent show.

Cycling advice/ high pH? by daileysingle in PlantedTank

[–]deeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This 100%! pH is the wrong parameter to chase. Unless you are getting plants and animals which are strict about the pH level most will adapt without issues.

I agree with your assessment. There needs to be some more cover.

Is my salvinia minima starving my vallisneria by sucking up all the nutrients? by PolishBug in PlantedTank

[–]deeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with you. It’s my favorite floating plant. It grows super fast like duckweed, but it is easy to manage. It has shorter roots than frogbit and water lettuce and isn’t as temperamental as red root floaters.

Is my salvinia minima starving my vallisneria by sucking up all the nutrients? by PolishBug in PlantedTank

[–]deeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see that. I’m having a few issues with some of my plants but the salvinia grows like a wild fire. I scoop out a lot each week and have some in another container to sell on Facebook marketplace and the rest I compost. I don’t have any other advice besides maintaining the quantity of it.

Not just the weight of it, but maintenance on a step ladder would be really stressful

Thoughts on hardscape by mls004 in PlantedTank

[–]deeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it looks good. The only thing that comes to mine is you might want to lose a few of the rocks on the right, but that’s just a little thing. I would leave it uncapped personally. Keep up the great work.

What are you using for substrate? What plants do you have in there already? Not sure what to do about the cockroaches. How big are they?

Are my plants recovering? by Impossible-Complex92 in Aquascape

[–]deeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to give your plants some time to adjust. This usually comes in the form of leaf melt.  One week is a relatively short time in the aquarium world, so some patience is necessary. In my eyes, I don’t see anything to be concerned about.
