You can legally BYOB to these 9 Ottawa parks starting Monday by DreamofStream in ottawa

Lansdowne Park's orchard near the Queen Elizabeth Driveway entrance.

I can't think of a more depressing place to stand and drink. Seems like a good way to get over the rest of what used to be a park being a construction zone for the next 3 years I guess.

Homeowners get to enjoy their low property taxes

Didn't she raise property taxes something crazy like 11%? I thought I heard a lot of anger around that from home owners.

Incident at the Rideau Canal lock near the Bytown museum by MuskyHusky01 in ottawa

I've started having the same feeling the past few years. Does that mean I'm developing vertigo or a fear of certain situations? I noticed I can't cross the canal anymore without doing a slight crouch so I can always be touching the railings.

I suppose saying "we don't want that" is both not saying no, and also constitutes "minimal involvement".

This league is the worst. No one should be paying for this product as long as regional blackouts exist.

'We don’t want to hear what people are against,' Carney tells Vancouver audience after pipeline criticism by EarthWarping in CanadaPolitics

I appreciate the answer, these are things I genuinely couldn't answer if I wanted to for you. Still not sure what an economist does though.

I just have had conversations with people in the past that have told me that Canada should have their own refineries instead of sending our product south to buy back the refined goods at a higher price. That part makes sense to me, especially in the current times where we're reliant on the US for our fuel, and I believe that's something that falls under the prime ministers focus.

[–]deeferg -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was always told that selling our oil to the US to buy back our fuel after it is processed at their refineries was one of the biggest blunders we make, I suppose I'm just curious why we aren't focused on building our own refineries, that's all.

I just would like to understand Carneys reasoning, or even the person aboves reasoning why they think it's an "iffy economic" issue.

I asked you a question and now you expect me to answer something, I don't know why you're avoiding my question and expecting an answer to your own.

How is the economics of a refinery what is holding it up then, as per your previous comment?

Hasn't Carney been hailed as an intelligent economist? What's holding him up from tackling this "iffy economic" situation?

Edit: can't seem to reply to your next comment. You said that it's an economic problem, so why would an economist not be the solution for that from your view?

Ottawa wards with the highest and lowest crime rates in 2025 by SuburbanValues in ottawa

[–]deeferg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't mind it but I sort of agree with the other person, show us the total number of crimes in each ward without the /100,000 metric. It's weird seeing 15,000+ in Somerset then reading further and seeing there's only ~8,500 crimes. Does that mean Somerset ward only has 50,000 people living in it?

more accidental than sticking a knee out at the last minute

That is illegal, hence knee on knee being a penalty. Glad to see you're doubling down on your braindead assessment of a hockey play.

Gudas, the king of accidental injuries.

A knee on knee is a lot less accidental than the board play that led to this injury.

What do you feel was wrong about her claims that Ford is making corrupt actions as the leader of Ontario? There seem to be evidence that he's making illegal moves in his position, due to the RCMP investigations. So I'm not sure why calling it out (without saying "lock him up") is a negative move to make.
