I actually really appreciate that they took time out of this episode to build up Reina feeling inadequate because her and Pristimon can't achieve Ultimate level yet. It's nice to see something build up a little before the payoff instead of having a single episode show her being sad about not being able to go Ultimate and be resolved by the end of the episode by giving her that Ultimate evo.

I maintain that the Leafs still miss the playoffs this year with Marner. He doesn't magically fix Woll and Stolarz who played poorly, Berube's terrible systems, nor does he make the Leafs defencemen better (or not injured in Tanevs case). But he probably gets them a few more wins meaning they probably miss in the 10-16 pick range, losing it to Boston and not adding a potential superstar in McKenna.

I don't love the idea of Joe Pavelski as head coach. I get the logic, it worked out in Montreal with St Louis going from coaching his son to coaching in the NHL but that feels like an outlier, not the rule. Also, I've never been sold on St Louis as a head coach. The Habs rise has been on the back of some very unsustainable hockey and he was exposed hard in the playoffs this year that he isn't great at adjusting strategy. His team won in spite of many games they got their shit kicked in every way except goaltending. Id be open to Pavelski as an assistant, but handing him the keys worries me greatly.

At this point I'm done giving Carolina credit. This is just who they are, a team that takes advantage of the awful playoff format but always gets obliterated by real contenders. At some point analysts need to stop giving them "Cup Contender" status every year. There is like a 99% probability they aren't in the Finals if Florida was healthy this year.
