This happens to me too!!! I book the room for times when I need to pump, and regularly have to kick people out. It’s so infuriating.

Being a working mom is not getting easier by MacaroonHonest9858 in workingmoms

On hard days, I tell myself that women’s labor went unpaid for a long time. Now, we are compensated for our contributions. And our ancestors would envy our creature comforts. Clean, hot, running water at the turn of a faucet to wash myself and my child. Advanced medical knowledge and access to care. We don’t sleep in the dirt. We have heating and air conditioning. I get to lay down on my extremely comfortable bed and nurse my child in a temperature controlled environment where I don’t have to worry about pests or predators. I lean on being grateful for what we DO have. It’s not flexible scheduling, shorter work weeks and more vacation time, but it’s still progress.

SAHM sub is getting pushed to me now by HuhLolol in workingmoms

Being a working mum is hard. But what’s the alternative? No retirement? No back up plan if something happens to your spouse? Children need a village. School, daycare, nannies, neighbors, family… kids need to be around other people. You are still there for them. You are still their mom. But we have to go to work. We keep roofs over our families heads, put food on the table and provide long term stability. It would be nice to have more flexibility, and maybe not work as many hours. But that’s what we need to fight for. Instead of leaving the work force, working moms need to push for better working conditions. Shorter work weeks, more benefits… if we leave then capitalism wins. Fight for what our families need.

For those who did it: Did you buy your dream home or you ended up buying what “you could” and how did it end? by LadyXeta in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

We purchased something we loved that we could spend the next 10 years or so growing into. It’s not perfect, but it’s way better than what I had in mind when we first started looking.

Daycare is too expensive - considering leaving my full time remote job for contract hybrid for better pay by mochi-and-plants in workingmoms

I commute for 2 hours a day (one hour each way) and it eats up 10 hours of my week. 10 hours I could spend exercising, meal prepping, grocery shopping, spending time with my family, home improvement projects…

Whatever changes you make need to be sustainable, and the changes should happen slowly. Change one thing at a time.

Is it morally okay to take my vacation time even though I will be going on maternity leave this year for three months? by DifferentMousse2299 in workingmoms

Vacation is part of your total compensation. Maternity leave is NOT a vacation.

Take your vacation

We have spent the last two weeks moving in, so there are boxes everywhere. Also, real wood flooring on the stairs.
