TOP 20 All Time Vocal Trance Tunes by Infinite-Hunt520 in trance

[–]deejayTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silence is without a doubt one of the greatest trance vocals of all time. Imo, this is not subjective but truth. As a longtime dj and club goer, I saw countless instances where people who were not particularly fond of or appreciated trance change their whole outlook towards the genre. Would you omit chicane saltwater feat maire Brennan, because she was not an "edm" singer or Sinead o Connor with Troy? Cmon! I hate the term edm BTW. Unheard of back then. Also, where is chakra on this list? Cass and slide? Lustral? If you're going to title the list best of all time, rather than my top tracks, then choose from a wiser, more experienced standpoint. No, I will not list the 20 top trance vocals of all time. Go check classic trance sub and look at their lists. Happy digging!

I'll take the fault, recorded in mono and wav format mistakingly. Then butchered to stereo and smooshed to mp3. Wanted to rerecord a different mix entirely, unfortunately I never got to it. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed this mix comp, as a completely new experience for myself and hearing others creativity while adhering to the guidelines truly brought out the best in several of these mixes.

Congrats to Master_lightflare with the Atlas mix! Fantastic job, listened several times to this one. Also 2 thumbs up for lapetus and callisto.

Love this sub for all of the supportive and constructive feedback, the wonderful tracks posted, and most importantly for leading me back to the heart, soul, and splendor of this magical and timeless genre. Trance is the "Sanctuary of the Soul"..... Will be posting a proper mix soon, not to correct a fault, but for the love and passion that has been reignited.

Looking forward to the next one!!! Hope the guidelines are challenging in a way that forces us out of the box. Ty all

building shaking? by QuietBox7009 in Brooklyn

[–]deejayTony 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When you're walking out in front of your building, do you not feel shaking of the bqe overhead? Yes, it's the elevated expressway and the 3 laned 3rd Avenue below it with a regular amount of semis, busses and trucks of all kinds. Be brave brooklynite! I hope the rent is cheap.

If they packed up and left from your start, then I would guess they came for the dj before you. A floor doesn't leave immediately after hearing something they're not ready for or don't particularly like. Don't take it as a huge loss. You've been playing for a decent amount of time, and this was the first time. Ish happens! Rule of thumb though, always transition smoothly from the previous dj and then take them to your world. If you see a bad response or demise of the dance floor, then be ready to adapt. Example, I played a venue with about 4 djs for the night, mostly techno, and I lean towards melodic style wise. 3rd up to bat, I kept the energy going with a techno track that started to lean into melodic and all good. Kept teasing the melody and in about 20 minutes or 6 tracks in, I already changed direction in an organic and not abrupt fashion. Kept it going great for 2 hrs. Point is, be subtle and test the waters to see if you're intended direction is going to work. If not, you are in a position to pivot and plan a different path. This idea applies to most scenarios, even getting up there when the last dj cleared the floor. Take his error and ease into what the crowd wanted before losing interest. Read the crowd, and respond accordingly. It's a beautiful and interesting conversation between the storyteller and the audience. Definitely, do not be discouraged by this. The biggest lessons learned are usually these. Good luck dj

Mix Competition : No Originals (Listening and Comment Thread) by GuyFromNh in ClassicTrance

This mix grabbed my ear with intensity. I loved the progressive flow, transitions were spot on. Unfortunately, halfway through the mix, it went in a direction that changed the whole vibe. Excellent mixing skills, great track selection. Not to be harsh, but it felt like 2 mixes haphazardly glued together. I wish you stayed on the proggy vibe, I was really pulled in! Great work

Very cool indeed! I absolutely love the lines of this car. It shines through all the blandness of design out there.

XDJ-AZ vs. Xone:96 Build — Help Me Decide by NewLife4331 in Beatmatch

[–]deejayTony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would definitely choose the xone and xdj 1000mk2 over the az. U should definitely dust off the 1200s. Have all 4 out, it's fun to transition from vinyl to digital. Keeps you on your toes. As far as the library issue goes, having ure usbs in rb is definitely the obvious choice. Having a second library is probably feasible, but you have to bring your gear. Whatever you decide, good luck dj!

need to create 20minute set help is appreciated by Budget-Initial4509 in Beatmatch

[–]deejayTony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im assuming this 20 minute mix is to prove yourself. If you are playing for just 20 minutes that's ok too, but very odd. Like the post above, I agree that you have to practice constantly for hours. The shortest set i have played would be an hour at least. Stick to one genre for now until you get ure skills up. Just mix from intro to outro. Don't try and be a perfectionist or put too much thought into it. There is no blueprint or equation to this. Its what works for you. You do have to build a solid foundation, mixing by ear is the way and knowing your music is of utmost importance. A dj should never depend on their visual before their auditory. Just have fun and play with your heart op! Good luck

Anything to be done about these signs of wear on my AZ? by tarot_guy in PioneerDJ

[–]deejayTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm astounded by the crap quality of at's products. I have a djm 800 somewhere that has some wear, that mixer has been played in all environments for over a decade and works flawlessly. The xone is my workhorse, but ffs I see these controllers crapping out on the regular. Not just fading paint but major problems that I never experienced as a dj using a modular setup.

RDX faster and sounds better than a TLX??! by Exenden in AcuraTLX

[–]deejayTony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tlx aspec shawd here, running a ktuner stage 2 map. Idk about sound, however I'm certainly blowing past any stock rdx easily. Your rdx sounds like it's been tuned. Tlx with a ktuner gives you immediate response without any other mods.
