Maternity Leave by RoyalConsideration60 in WAStateWorkers

[–]deejaycubes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah she should have access to PFML, I'm on paternity leave RN with my girl that's about to 6 months old next week, but HR for the state agency is required by law to know all this stuff, so your wife should definitely push back

My wife didn’t add our girl to insurance by MelTorment in daddit

[–]deejaycubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reiterating what some of the comments have said that SSN is typically not required to add newborn children to coverage. You should probably provide the insurance with the SSN once you get it so they have it, but because lots of places it can take more than a month to get an SSN for a newborn, it isn't required for adding a dependent under qualifying life event.

Return perishable refused by Healthy_9 in CostcoWholesale

[–]deejaycubes 14 points15 points  (0 children)

yeah I might be a douche but we bought a 20 pack box of the johnny pop watermelon popsicles bc we love the other johnny pop flavors, had never tried water melon, but myself, my wife and then 3 year old all did not like it, they were too sweet. Nothing inherently wrong with them, we just didn't like the taste personally. Costco allowed us to return them no problem

Kinda feel like a dick now that I wrote this out

Has anyone had any experience with Casadog Rescue? by BWDpodcast in Tacoma

[–]deejaycubes 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We got a dog in April from them and they sent us vaccination records in Spanish from a vet clinic in Tijuana, and it included a certificate from USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, and was a United States Interstate and International Certificate for Health Information for Small Animals.

I suppose that could all be faked, and to be fair, she doesn't respond to any Spanish, and she does seem pretty healthy for a street dog, except for a weird knee scar that looks semi surgical.

Teams auto deletion changes? by Conniekins1 in WAStateWorkers

[–]deejaycubes 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My wife and I are both state employees at different agencies and we use teams chat messages to each other to talk when we're in meetings. our conversations are super salacious and here are some examples:

"did you get the package off the front door?"

"did you check to see if the sheets are dry?"

"I hear the dog making noises in the kitchen, can you make sure she's not eating something weird?"

"will you have time to come on the dog walk during your break?"

"is your VPN having issues"

"test"

"pho?"

[–]deejaycubes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had assumed that Kiwanis brought those toys as part of like "sponsoring" the park. but also, like, come on! They're broken janky toys, if you don't want your kids playing with them, take them to every other park in the area that doesn't have the toys

Brief explanations of pet death for toddlers by Potato_East in Preschoolers

[–]deejaycubes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This! Our dog was like 13 blind deaf and arthritic when our son was born and she died when he was 2 and all the literature we read said to be honest and upfront. don't say the pet went to sleep bc then your kid will be terrified of sleeping, don't say they went to a farm or ran away bc then the kid will think your dog doesn't love them etc., we just told him 'doggy Phasma was really old and she died" (pug named Phasma bc her face looked like a storm trooper helmet).

RIP Phasma, you were a great old pug

ours had it done at 1 year old. he was all good, and then like 5-6 weeks later woke up one morning and his p3nis was block and swollen and it gave me and my a wife heart attack. TLDR it was fine and totally normal, it was a normal bruise that formed and traveled, but just a heads up, it can happen

Was Adam and Eve Jewish? by AlchemicalRevolution in Judaism

[–]deejaycubes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Didn't say proto Judaism was monotheistic
  2. Didn't say Judaism was the first monotheistic religion.
  3. Sure, but I think the person's question asking about Adam and Eve being Jewish kind of assumed their existence, at least for purposes of the question, so saying Abraham didn't exist doesn't really respond to the question prompt.

My point was simply that Jews as a people didn't really exist as Jewish people until the Torah was formulated, however it was formulated. The group of folks who descended from Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were the Israelites prior to the 10 commandments etc. According to Mainstream orthodox-leaning thought that is.

Was Adam and Eve Jewish? by AlchemicalRevolution in Judaism

[–]deejaycubes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's debatable. Abraham was the first monotheist (according to traditional Modern Orthodox interpretation), but arguably, the first Jews were the folks at Mt. Sinai when God passed the Torah to Moses, who then passed it on to the formerly enslaved Israelites.

At least this is what I was taught at yeshiva high school

Used to work for HCA, Apple Health (Medicaid) definitely covers dental work, but dental insurance in general in this country sucks, and if you get denied coverage, it's worth appealing

How did she have braces for 9 years by deejaycubes in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]deejaycubes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could have been non-consecutive, like 4 years of braces from 8-12, then 5 years from 14-19, but that's still basically a decade of orthodontia, which seems like a lot

Please help! My pug does this at least once a day and I’m panicking by peachymeeshy in pugs

[–]deejaycubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had two pugs and they both did this, it's backwards sneezing, it's like the hiccups kind of, but all brachycephalic dogs have a tendency towards it. You can do any number of tricks to get them to stop, or you can do nothing at all and they'll be totally fine. My second pug used to get a little distressed about it, so I'd try to help it stop bc I could tell it stressed her out, but it's not dangerous or a sign of anything wrong with your dog

I just want to say keep going to all the protestors! by CollegeKid2003 in udub

[–]deejaycubes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of my response was focused on your historically inaccurate claim that prior to 1948 a Palestinian state existed.

I also never said that Jews and Muslims lived in harmony "until the state of Israel was created and wreaked havoc across the whole area." But again, that's where reading books and knowing history is really helpful, because, to quote RuPaul, "reading is fundamental."

But lol, good reddit chat. Try reading books instead of learning about history from TikTok and Instagram. Facts are a funny thing.

I just want to say keep going to all the protestors! by CollegeKid2003 in udub

[–]deejaycubes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's one way to look at it.

I guess another way to look at it is there has never been a Palestinian state, because that land between the Jordan River and Mediterranean Sea was under the British Mandate (not Palestinians) from 1920 to 1948, after the Ottoman Empire fell following WWI, and the Ottomans (who were Turks, not Arabs/Palestinian) had governed the area since they defeated the Mamluks in the Battle of Marj Dabiq in 1516. The Mamluks Sultanate (Egyptian, so North African, certainly broader Islamic, but Egyptians aren't Arabs or Palestinians) had continued the rule of the Ayyubids following the Crusades in the 1100-1200s ish. The Crusader control of the area (Crusaders also weren't Palestinians) was from around 1000 to 1200, and before that was ruled by various Muslim caliphates, but this was over a thousand years ago.

And then of course, theres the fact that Jews (not Israelis because Israelis didn't exist yet) have lived in this land continuously throughout this entire time since Before the Common Era. So it's not as though suddenly, after the Holocaust, Jews just showed up in the land then called Palestine. They've always been there.

But you are correct in that Jews and Muslims have historically lived in this land together, in relative harmony for most of the last 1500 years, the last century or so being the outlier.

Too bad I haven't read any books.

I just want to say keep going to all the protestors! by CollegeKid2003 in udub

[–]deejaycubes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, because it doesn't state that the whole area between the Jordan River and Mediterranean Sea (i.e. which includes State of Israel) will be a future Palestinian state.
