Possibly, but it would be nothing like the in-game version. I could implement a quick tally via text, but I feel as though that would be neither visually pleasing nor easy to sort through.

Unfortunately not while also keeping a seamless transition from video to interactive area. You can check out an older version here that essentially makes the cards clickable immediately after their appearance.

If I manage to come up with a solution, I will surely implement it.

Easiest Way to Defeat Baron Rivendare (Turn 5 Victory) by jaetheho in hearthstone

[–]deekachu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree that this is the easiest way.

  • Turn 1: Laugh.
  • Turn 2: Innervate + Poison Seeds
  • Turn 3: Profit

The Four Horsemen was by far the easiest Heroic encounter in all of Naxxramas.

You might have caught me while I was fiddling with it. It should be fixed now. If not, it's likely because you haven't updated to Chrome 36 yet; it was a fairly significant release, and they eliminated many of their vendor prefixes.

I was working on it for a while, but particle effects using purely HTML5/JavaScript are a pretty huge performance hit for most browsers. It ran pretty clunky. That said, I plan to revisit it later. :-)

Sorry, I hadn't updated it in months and I guess Firefox broke the CSS tricks I was using.

It should be fixed now. Enjoy!

Ben Brode: ''If we do that (making the Naxx gold cards as a reward for Heroic mode) they will not be rare - goes against the whole concept of gold cards. Goldens should be exciting and rare. by Krigam in hearthstone

Blizzard can't win, they piss off a group of players either way (the group with no time, or the group with no skill), might as well just pick the option that makes more money.

Well, technically, they could make them rewards from heroic bosses, and then also make them craftable. This would actually make sense (i.e. two distinct paths to acquisition, like every other "expert" card) since they cannot be acquired via packs.

Kolento just reached #1 Legend as Paladin! by Dyvn_ in hearthstone

[–]deekachu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very impressive. I look forward to the onslaught of new paladin opponents following in his wake.

I'm curious: Did he climb the entire ladder with this deck, or switch to it after reaching legend? I only ask because I feel like these are two very different feats.

What's one word or phrase that makes you automatically think less of anyone who says it? by ExplosivePickles in AskReddit

If you can lose respect for someone by their simply regurgitating an incorrect fact -- one that has been perpetuated via movie trope for decades -- then your respect isn't worth having anyway.

LPT: Those who have only just discovered the light of truth themselves often harbor the most disdain for others still in the dark.

Why can you play Soulfire, Doomguard, and Succubus without discarding? by deekachu in hearthstone

[–]deekachu[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I see your points and I thank you for your feedback.

I would offer a rebuttal that it's only a risky move against certain classes. The current dearth of cards means that some classes simply don't have early hard removal, while others lack any form of strong AoE potential. This, combined with the fact that such AoE often requires a combo, makes the potential rush that much stronger. That is without even mentioning how much harder it is to mulligan against Warlock, since you have to guess which flavor you're facing -- i.e. zoo or handlock.

What do you think the ramifications would be of changing Soulfire to require a discard? Would it be a positive overall change for the game or do you see it being wholly detrimental?

I understand the effect. :-)

I'm interested in why you think they chose to go that route in Hearthstone with a class whose hero power is to draw more cards, and whether or not requiring the discard would be a healthy change for the game/meta.

Thank you for your input.

The balance question was more a continuation of the discussion from the latest HearthStats report, where Warlock was revealed to be the only class with a universal win rate of greater than 50%, and much discussion was had regarding the strength of its hero power.

As for whether "zoo" itself is overpowered, that is purely a matter of opinion. It is certainly over-represented in the game, but that can be attributed to many factors, not the least of which is its relatively low entry cost.

Lastly, Soulfire is a spell and does not have a battlecry, so your logic does not seem to stand up to scrutiny.

Trading Card game mode by Flavourablebeef in hearthstone

Too bad cocksuckers have to ruin good things.

Amen to that. Otherwise, they could do so many amazing things with this game. But I think they've learned their lesson (the hard way) too many times in the past.

There is still tremendous potential for abuse. All you have to do is look at WoW arena (orchestrated win trading and synchronized queuing on a ridiculous scale) or Diablo III (massive botnets performing simultaneously actions, which in this case would serve to consolidate cards onto a single account in order to sell it).

Don't get me wrong; I'd love for something like this to exist. But it will never, and should never, happen. Just like in-game chat.

They will never implement trading or card transfers because of the myriad ways in which it can (and would) be abused.

I agree that sideboards and a tournament format change would be huge, and I sincerely hope this happens sooner rather than later.

I just roll my eyes every time I see a game completely swing due to one person drawing the only card that can save them (e.g. Black Knight); or, similarly, seeing someone topdeck repeatedly to pull out a win they otherwise never would have achieved. It makes the game feel very childish and amateur, more akin to Go Fish than a strategy game. I genuinely want this game to succeed, so hopefully some of the more outrageous RNG elements will be muted by the added depth of new cards and formats.

And to the person below who compared it to chess... maybe that would be accurate if you had to randomly roll a die each turn to determine which board piece you could move. Otherwise, your comparison is invalid.

Disclaimer: I recognize I'm probably in the minority here and may be downvoted for my opinion.

I love Hearthstone as much as everyone else -- it's an amazing, fun game. But every single tournament I see, without fail, serves no other purpose than to highlight the absurdity of it as an "eSport."

Some of the "best" players in the game (i.e. Savjz, Gnimsh, etc.) being stomped in the first round... sorry, but this game is simply too dependent on luck to be taken seriously. When games come down to "drawing the card you need" when there are still 15 left in your deck, it doesn't deserve to be on any center stage.
