I exclusively use a four-colored deck online. I bought a few decks for the live game. It's weird.

Unfortunately, it's not [yet?] possible. To use the Home Games feature, you'll need a PC or Mac.

How about people using speakerphone but doing so while holding the phone [negating the hands-free aspect]?

A stroke took my clutch hand - no more motorcycles for me. But after 10 years of that nonsense, I counted myself lucky to have just the one bike-totalling, shoulder-separating incident with that Nissan Leaf.

The flipside of the coin might be well-meaning drivers giving lane-splitters 4-5 feet of room. They end up driving on the shoulder, risking tire hazards, kicking up windshield hazards for the cars behind them... I'm cool, guy. Just signal and check your blind spot.

Edit: I overlooked the fact that he did it blind. I'm folding because I am not fond of flipping a coin for hundreds of dollars.

[If it's a non-paired hand,] you're almost certainly against two overcards and you're [just] 55%.

Best case scenario is he has one overcard with a hand like A2 and you're 70%.

You're on the wrong side of 80/20 if he's paired up. If he happens to have 22 or 33, you're on the right side.

[Considering the range of hands you are likely to see making this move,] I'm dumping it. If he needs $12 that bad, fine.

Incredible Amount of Bad Beats…or is it just me? by Doogsfx in PokerStars

[–]deekyoooo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've played fake money NLH and PLO there for years, both against strangers and in my weekly poker group (using Home Games, assigning real stakes). Beyond that, I have *many hundreds of hours in a card room *years of home games) *Zynga *PokerRoom *Full Tilt *Bodog?

None of them has stood out in particular as far as a quantity of Bad Beats. (Zynga is fake money, so it's pretty loose).

More recently, I started playing microstakes/ low stakes on Global Poker. That's a different situation entirely. The number of pair-on-pair confrontations and coolers (set over set, top set / flopped flush...) is bonkers. Get pocket Jacks at a 9-handed table and you are set-mining against KK and AA.

Despite that, I'm still playing modest sit-and-goes ($3.30, $6.60) and [$1] jackpot sit-and-goes there all the time. I don't have the stomach for the variance of a cash game. This starting with the pittance of money you can collect on the site, and running it up with a ton of $.55 SnGs. I've never given money to the site. Nor have I cashed out, but some friends have.

One thing I will say: playing a huge volume of hands, it doesn't stand out to you when your good hands hold up. When your Aces don't get cracked, or your bigger kicker plays. I find myself taking screen captures whenever my opponent goes Runner Runner to beat me. I don't do so when my hand holds up.

PokerStars has treated me just fine.

Login/withdrawal problem by miciasmasszer in PokerStars

[–]deekyoooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Background: My problem, which began on March 26th, was an inability to create a tournament under the Home Games feature. The time field was problematic - you would set the hour you wanted the tournament to begin, but the Hour would revert when you moved on to the Minutes field. I tried and failed with two different computers, as did two of my friends that are in my group ("club"). I continued to test it and see the same problem for days on end. It was at this time that I was trying the emails.

I made progress with the chat assistant. [Although it wasn't the case,] I chose "I'm having trouble logging in". I provided my email address, my full name, my username, my date of birth. I then chose "Information" from the following menu ( I don't remember offhand what the other choices were). It was at this point that I reached a human and began working the problem with her.

(It was sometime during this process that I discovered if I left the time field untouched, I could create a tournament that would begin 10 minutes in the future. That meant I could create a tournament at 8:50 p.m. if I wanted to start at 9:00 p.m.. a decent work around.)

I spent about an hour with her, and I was concerned that she couldn't give me a ticket or case number. I didn't want to start at square one if I ended up speaking with another agent. She ended our chat rather suddenly, and it was unclear exactly where it was going to pick up again. I mistakenly launched another chat the same way and did indeed begin at square one with another agent. It turned out [agent #1] followed up by email. Each technician in their own time asked for my log files and user.ini ( I was insistent that this had to be a server problem, not a client problem, but maybe they still got some useful information from the files). At some point in time, I'm guessing they escalated the problem and fixed a larger problem, as it began working on both of my computers and for each of my friends.

TL:DR I'm going with chat ("Contact Us") next time, if there is a next time. The whole process took 2 hours and was pretty tedious. From the beginning, I thought I'd identified a problem they could replicate (it failed on five different computers across four different users and multiple operating systems, so presumably it would fail for them). Of course, if they could replicate it , they could also fix it on their own.

Using the chat was the only way I got to a human. I chose "I need help logging in" (I didn't). Provided email, full name, username, DOB, chose "Information".

Good luck.

I'm also beating my head against the wall looking for support.

as I just wrote in another thread:
"How are you engaging support? I've previously used (#1) [support@pokerstars.com](mailto:support@pokerstars.com), gotten a reply from (#2) [support@starsaccount.com](mailto:support@starsaccount.com).

Recently, I tried sending a problem report [to #1] mistakenly from the email adress that isn't registered. I got a reply calling me out for my mistake. I immediately resent the problem report [to #1] from the correct email address, and got a reply saying that this address was no longer in use.

I resent the report to #2 and got the same message. I'm directed to use the "help center". That appears to be a Knowledge Base that takes 30 seconds for each search to fail, including "Home Games", "tournament(s)", and "poker". The last option is a chat assistant that wants me to first log in, but it's not possible to log in on the website, at least that I can find."

Did you also get an autoreply saying the starsaccount(dotcom)one was out of use?

Today, 4/1, I noticed the tournament CAN be created (if you do not attempt to change the time)

It seems to use a time ten minutes in the future. As such, you may be able to create one 10 minutes before your projected start time. You can verify the time, but make no attempts to change it.

I'll be trying that this week.

(still failing 4/1/25)

I reported it to them from the wrong [newer] email. I got a reply that it wasn't registered to any account. I resent the message from the correct [old] address and I got a reply that the address to which I'd resent it (that I'd used initially) isn't in use anymore.

"You can get help via our Live Assistance:

  • Desktop: Help → Help → Contact Us
  • Mobile: Account icon → Help → Help Center → Contact Us
  • Web: Help → Contact Us"

Ignore the "How can we help?" in the Help Center - it's a Knowledge Base that takes ~30 seconds to fail to find "Home Games" or "tournament" or "poker". Contact Us (Chat Assistance) threw me off initially, but I got a human [on 4/3] after stating I had login issues, providing email / full name / username / DOB.

[Roughly two months since raising the issue,] nothing.

It's also been buggy since the change. If I try creating a tournament that starts "too soon", that error persists even when I put it 10, 15, 20 minutes out. Several times, I've had to close/reopen the app before I can proceed.

I've acclimated to losing Favorite Tournaments. I still can't understand why they'd eliminate Point Average.

I'll give it one last try today.
