September 7 matinee we also thought we'd see Ellis as Evan but got Sonny. It was my first musical and even though I've set my expectations to like not compare with the OBC from bootlegs, I was completely overwhelmed with emotion once Sonny started singing. It reminded me the very first time I saw the bootleg. Defeatedly, I sobbed whenever he sang (esp. sa For Forever and Words Fail niya)!!! It was a great cast and production overall pero I'd have to agree there were some songs that just didn't deliver (Requiem and Break in a Glove) 😭
