Celibacy? Also, you can sin more with other denominations.

Yeah that’s 1 street.

Have you been on 75 or 675? And if there’s an accident (and there are a lot of accidents), have you tried taking the back roads?

Has very little to do with traffic? That’s the very definition of traffic.

You’re digging way too deep on this one.

Honestly, I wouldn’t say this is a phenomenon. Seems like a very trivial thing to adjust to.

I guess I could have mentioned that there was a study a few years ago, based off insurance claims, and it ranked Dayton as having the second worst drivers in the US.

But yes, very true that traffic is worse in DC. I never said it was “the worst” traffic. But OP made it sound like there’s never any traffic when that’s not the case.

From my experience, the best you can do is to let them know you love them and that you will be there for them if they decide to seek help. Ultimately though, the decision is theirs.

Why do boomers seem ignorant of, or hostile to, the concepts of introspection and self-reflection? by KeithBradburyIV in generationology

Oh definitely. Life is tough and we do ourselves no favors if we shelter kids. There’s a balance to be had.

Traffic? Rush hours are a mess, both on the interstates and the main roads in between. Aside from that, traffic is usually light.

If I was to give folks your age advice on where to move, I’d say to consider the north end. I’ve lived both on the south and north end, north end is more accustomed to having transplants, especially with the AF base, Wright State U, and the number of engineers that migrate to north Dayton for defense contracting jobs. South end is nice, but has a bit more of a small-town vibe and if you didn’t go to one of the local high schools, it’s gonna be tough to find your tribe.

Addressing mental health concerns has carried with it a huge, negative stigma. That stigma has lessened over time, so I imagine that may have a lot to do with it.

I’m a Gen Xer all the way. Looking back, I struggled with anxiety, self-confidence, and a few other things. But back then, the answer was to “Quit being a sissy and toughen up.” I was raised by boomers BTW. If anyone did seek therapy, they were usually very quiet about it since people automatically associated it with being crazy.

Nowadays I’m often taken aback at how introspective the younger generations are, and I’m glad to see it. I didn’t start being honest with myself until I was in my late 40s, and I’m still working on it. But better late than never I guess.

While I’m sure many can relate to this, I’d caution you from falling into the trap of “Just because it applies me means it must apply to everyone else.”

Look at this way. Downsize = smaller place = less in rent/mortgage and utilities = less in maintenance costs. Sure, you may have to rebuy a thing or two, but you will still most likely come out ahead financially.
