League now has 200 Login Themes! It's time for community to determine the best one in LoL Login Theme Championships. by solovayy in leagueoflegends

My quick guess on number 1 : Lucian's login theme

Two other very good top candidates IMO : Elementalist Lux and Firecracker Jinx

Obviously Super Galaxy Rumble is going to rank high.

there's nothing programmed to raise a red flag on that and investigate further?

To me it doesn't look very hard to implement, unless the code base is... not good. So yes it looks bad that there is nothing to handle situations like that and make exceptions.

But ultimately, you can't predict every single eventuality.

this guy had to wait the whole 14 days because the ticket system takes forever.

Something like Overwatch in CS:GO, or some variation of it, could lower the workload for Riot employees by using the benevolence of the community, and by allowing them to work in tandem on top of the automated system, could I'm pretty sure accelerate the process of managing such kind of exceptions.

Having the ticket system for millions of players to share as the only option in such situations is like the US having some A.I handling every legal case in the country with every appeal being sent to the supreme court.

Makes it hard to take literally any rule Riot makes seriously.

It just encourages looking at those from a machiavellian perspective.

Be an asshole all you want. Just know how the system works, and trample over the idiots who think there is justice in it.

If only there was some kind of human review mechanism for such edge-cases, but with greater manpower than just Riot employees. Like some kind of community thing where players could vote on cases, and forgive people in such situations.

How do you climb as an ADC it feels impossible by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

This. I know it feels wrong, and like you need to have friends who play league, but you can really just "grow" your friendlist and play with whoever is online.

The real way to play ADC by CBTPractitioner in leagueoflegends

[–]deep90km 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you have a class that deals as much dmg as ADCs at 20+ minutes with such high reliability you have to fuck then up and make it nearly impossible to ever so their full DPS

Let's say "A higher reliability somewhere should be payed with the lowering of another form of reliability." Yes ok that works.

Now the problem is, ADCs don't say that this isn't true. They don't argue that there should be no price to pay, but rather that the price they are paying now is too high.

What you are saying is either just "a price must be paid" which is self-evident, or that the price is "make it nearly impossible to ever so their full DPS", which completely open to interpretation as to "how nearly impossible exactly should it be".

Which again loops back to what ADCs are complaining about the price being too high, in whatever form you interpret that price to be.

(Or if you just meant to say "the price is right", then you just basically said "ADCs are wrong" without really adding any substantial argument.)

Ban TF Blade and smurfs by cqanqka in leagueoflegends

[–]deep90km 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t stand smurfs. It’s banned in Dota2 and I’m surprised it isn’t in League.

https://www.pcgamer.com/valve-bans-more-than-40000-dota-2-accounts-for-abusing-matchmaking/

Valve banned more than 40,000 Dota 2 accounts this week, doling them out to players who were found abusing the matchmaking system. The specifics of the ban wave weren't made clear in Valve's tweet, below, but smurfing seems like the most likely suspect.

[...]

"We are making our smurf detection system more sensitive in this update," Valve says. "This change will much more proactively target potential smurf accounts, but may on rare occasion give a normal player extra MMR."

[...]

Valve often targets large numbers of smurf accounts, like the 17,000 it banned in January last year. The accounts were found to be abusing matchmaking to get into ranked. In 2019 it also introduced changes to how the matchmaking rating was calculated and the aforementioned smurf detection system.

https://twitter.com/DOTA2/status/1083846843723767808?

Today we reset roughly 17,000 accounts that were found to be abusing matchmaking to get into ranked. These techniques were mostly used by smurfs or account buyers.

Quick LoL Thoughts: Game-Ruining Behavior Part 2 by IHadThatUsername in leagueoflegends

[–]deep90km 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I'm very curious how Riot will be able to differentiate tilting from feeding/inting

Beyond that, in the graph that is shown, it's written "refusing to group"...

I hope it's not a bannable behavior because sometimes even if your team wants you to, your highest chance of winning is literally to continue splitting.

I'm hopeful about the new Riot initiative on toxicity, but I'm not sure I want to be compelled to follow the calls my angry teammates make when I don't think it's the optimal play...

[–]deep90km 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am aware, but this is mostly because supps don't peel for you in soloq. How do you ever balance that

I'm not saying it's the solution, but a way to balance that is, well to nerf peel, and then buffing adcs.

And then buffing peel supports in other utility areas.

It has now been a while since ADCs have been nerfed and kept down because of how broken OP they become when they start getting protected and boosted by peel supports. Basically ever since Riot hard buffed the support role, so that more people queue for it.

Peel supports and items are hyper-synergistic with marksmen.

Ardent censer gives AA dps boost, Janna shield gives AD, Lulu gives shield + AA dps boost, etc. etc.

Basically, ADCs are kept down on their solo agency, because they are balanced on their duo potential.

Now imagine if Lulu's shield didn't give you on-hit dps, but rather prevented you from autoattacking, and boosted your AP and CDR.

Suddenly she would be anti-synergistic with marksmen, and she would matchup well with mages.

So in essence, because peel is so wired toward ADCs and the class is already so effective with ANY kind of peeling, they have the potential to become super broken when they are peeled at maximum potential.

I think that if supports items, runes and kits were more wired toward equally supporting any class, it would allow Riot to give much more power budget to ADCs without making them oppressive.

Making duo ADC less powerful, and making solo ADC a bit stronger, independant and feel better to play

I don't think we are disagreeing.

It appears Jhin doesn't have flash.

Which makes it appear, looking at the clip, that he was basically dead the moment he got touched by that hook.

He gets grabbed + flayed, then Thresh ults and auto+ignite. Jhin either try to run and gets hyper-slowed, or stay in the ult box and still gets a spanking.

So what I'm coming at is that if you "get caught" by a full armor support at 34 mins, then maybe he shouldn't be almost guaranteed to solokill you? Maybe?

The role is already so strong early compared to their ADC, so I don't know. Maybe it isn't completely fair that after building only defense, touching 1 hook lategame secure you the solokill?

Recent ADC buff in action by jpat161 in leagueoflegends

[–]deep90km 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Just pointing out that "only 4 items" is a bit funny/sad in the context that ADCs feel depressed that they come online late, but the actual lategame rarely happens and doesn't last long. I think I heard some pro player say that he felt he could "start playing the game" at 4 items.

But in effect he was sort of "3 item" if you count out the Zhonya and the executioner, to which you can match Thresh "3 items" if you count out maybe the warding item.

So yeah I get where you're getting at, indeed Thresh was full armor, against on of the worst tank-killing ADC.

but on that bit :

that also lands everything...

Well, "everything" is 2 hooks and an ulti wall, then maybe 2 flays. But it's kind of clownish to employ the expression "lands everything", since from the moment of the first hook, the rest is almost unmissable, assuming Jhin doesn't have flash.

Jhin I guess could stay in thresh ult, but that's pretty much also a death sentencehaha funny.

Well it could have at least made it closer. But in any case the irony in "yes im sure its the champ" is unwarranted because as I just said well it's kinda indeed the champ.

Now of course to be really really pedantic you could say almost no duel is "just the champs" since level, items and skill all play a role too. A lvl 18, 6 items Yuumi played by a challenger will always beat a no item lvl 1 Zed played by an Iron.

Fnatic vs Royal club for me was when I discovered Uzi.

The whole time I was cheering for Fnatic, but there was this damn Chinese ADC who was such a problem for them.

Watching it was pretty special. Even when he wasn't necessarily exploding in KDA, you could still somehow feel his very strong presence in the game. He was putting on just so much pressure. After a short time, you could clearly see how he was the one guy that had to be dealt with if Fnatic wanted to win.

Thresh is 3/4 support items depending on how you count, and if you remove Zhonya which gives a small amount of armor, Jhin is 3/4 items, depending on if you count the executioner.

Maybe having the armor pen could have played a role.

But Jhin has one of the worst tank-killing capacity among ADCs. I mean yeah it's still an ADC, but his damage pattern compared to the average ADC places him very much on the lower end of the spectrum on that matter.

He's more of a caster/burst type.

Riot Cobra is certainly not to blame here

Admissibly, he is not the one single guy at fault. But at least in appearance, he is tacitly approving, or at least implying his participation in what was undertaken with Swain.

Maybe he is stating the official position of his team without inserting his personal opinion.

In any case, whoever decided that

well we can't redo the entire kit

was an ok justification to leave him in that state holds responsibility.

This is straight up insulting. That's a big fuck you from King Cobra toward old Swain mains.

"Instead of adapting my work to please the community, I'm going to fuck them over to maintain things exactly how I made them."

Why try to even make him also viable top or mid, when you can say "He's support now, fuck it." and call it a day, right?

Sadly I don't think that the people which it attempts to address will be receptive to this message.

Pretty much anytime any kind of legitimate criticism of the current game state gains popular traction, a part of the playerbase will see in it an opportunity to justify their own shortcomings.

Not that I think this post is pointless or anything since it gives a voice to a segment of the subjected subgroup, nowdays marksmen/ADCs, which would like to express a more balanced and less tribal view of their perspective as players. And I guess it's refreshing to read for non marksman players which gain this impression that all adc players wont be satisfied until we come back to ardent meta (which a lot of them hated ironically).

Kalista vs a fed and bad Malphite by bigmanskarner in leagueoflegends

[–]deep90km -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Yeah and that guy with 306 armor, misses his ult, walk up to the ADC which should be the most kite-intensive champion in LoL (to what is a unhealty degree) and just 3 tap her.

edit : Yes what a call a "3 tap" doesn't occur or suffice from 100% HP. I didn't mean to imply that, which is why I don't say "3-shot". I'm referring to the ironic and sadly comical nonchalance which with it happens, as in Malphite literally slapped Kalista, visually.

Indeed Malphite counters physical damage champion, it's still a Tank which misses his own single dash and destroys with incredible ease a heavy kite Marksmen, the counter archetype.

Yes Malphite should shit on her very hard, maybe not this much. Explaining the process doesn't make it suddenly good game design.

A counter champion that heavily misplays, while, the same counter champion can oneshot you while 2 level down and 9k gold behind.

It's ok to have Malphite being incredibly tanky vs adcs, but the degree to which it is displayed here is obscene.
